Well yeah, that’s the point.

The tesla I mentioned has a range that exceeds many gas cars and is only improving. cybertruck coming out dickslaps most ICE ranges.

My Lexus display after a fill-up says '480 miles'.
Most EVs are 200. Do you have an EV? If not, why not?

Just wondering, in a disaster like Louisiana, Texas and California in 2020-21 how are we going to rebuild the power lines without fossil fuel vehicles?

This.

I have rechargeable lawn equipment and gas. When Laura came through there would be no way to clear your property, cut the trees off your home or driveway and just general overall cleanup using only rechargeable equipment. Then to clear the roads and highways and as you mentioned to re-install power lines so I can charge my battery powered equipment.

Hell, we didn't have electricity for over 2 weeks. Thank God for gas powered chain saws, generators etc.

That is why you are an idiot

yes your pickup designed with a heftier tank than most vehicles will outrange a car not designed for that range. the vast majority of people do not use vehicles for purposes like you claim to. EVs are not be the best option for everyone in all scenarios, but cherry picking the very specific use cases that are less than 5% of personal usage does not disprove EV's imminent superiority for regular usage.

I cant tell you the last time myself or anyone I know made any type of coast to coast drive. the longer 10+ hour trips Ive taken recently would only require me spending like 40 minutes longer roundtrip to charge and honestly that would probably be safer spent resting than getting back to white knuckling. and that time wouldn't be reason enough to not get an EV given every day use I probably save that 50+ minutes by not going to a gas station for my every day use.

if your point is that still EVs dont make any sense for the population in general because you use vehicles in a way the vast majority of people don't then idk.

Good lord, who gets gas daily for your 10 minute trip comparison? You are cherry picking every bit as much as you're accusing the pick up driver

im ignorant because I think the post I was referring to is nonsensical? quoted below:

quote:

Elites that vilify oil do not believe what they preach.
They don't want you to have power and control. They want to stop YOU from using fossil fuels, not them. They do that by making it so that only he rich can afford certain things.

They don't want to totally destroy modern society. They want it to be the norm for it to be out of YOUR reach.

Stop making snide comments that x is impossible because it wont work. They know that, that is their goal.
- example: Can't refuel fighter jet. exactly! Our military would be weakened. Bingo that is their fricking goal

im the idiot because some vague nonsense about elites in control who dont want you to have control despite the fact you already dont have control, along with something destroying society and not being able to fuel a fighter jet?

im just saying EVs in the very near future will deliver more torque, accelerate faster, better control etc. some EVs already exist that are more capable than some ice vehicles. im just not trying to argue some conspiracy illuminati nonsense.

seriously are you older than 25 buying some conspiracy elites in power destroying society?

Serious question, how does it do when it's towing your standard camper, boat, or trailer with an SxS or a couple of 4 wheelers?

Add that load in cold weather too, the range will probably barely get to 100 miles considering current Teslas can struggle to make a 200 mile range in cold weather. That's the part the resident EV nuthuggers conveniently ignore; EV's get their often touted max ranges only under ideal conditions. Too hot or too cold and they don't do nearly as well, especially cold as fundamental laws learned by anyone who has taken a grade-school chemistry can't be broken by any EV design. Even Tesla recommends pre-heating before driving or charging to get the most range or lower charge times.

WTF are you talking about? I never said anything like you have to get gas daily lol. I was saying for daily (routine) use you will be going to get gas much more often than I will have to stop at roadside superchargers. which will end up saving me time not having to go to the pump overall. thats you misinterpreting something ive said.

Just wait until all the local governments will have to have multiple hazmat teams to deal with accidents involving EVs.

All I can say is: The USA is not ready for full EVs, and won't be for decades!

Hardly any place on the planet can support 100% EV's. The technology simply doesn't exist at scale and infrastructure support is even further behind. It will take giant technological leaps for EV's to match ICE vehicles in all aspects.

I can't speak for anyone else but I have no interest in an electric car for reasons too numerous to list here.

Almost all energy used by electric vehicles, unless you're located in Hawaii or have solar panels on your home, comes from the oil and gas industry.

The EV emergence may cause the O&G industry to alter their output of certain types of energy, and it may minimize the total output needed as EVs are far more energy efficient, but it won't cause a massive transition away from "dirty" energy.

People that make this argument are shilling for the automotive labor unions trying to protect jobs that won't be needed as EVs have far, far less labor input than gas powered power trains

Uhh. I have a question. All this talk about Superchargers, etc. Uhh. I am old and naive. But, uhh, how much does it cost to plug in and get charged? No one ever talks about the charge to get charged up.

I know gasoline prices are spiking but how much does a good goosing in the old charging port cost these days?

If it takes 30-60 minutes, it had better be cheap.

I agree partially. This idiotic admin is trying to make all vehicles electric, ASAP....the race to EVs is the problem. Most all domestic car manufacturers claim to be ALL ELECTRIC by 2035....if that is true, shite will hit the fan.
