The Dutch Are Going to Arbitrarily Close Farms to Meet “Nitrogen Goals”

One in three Dutch farms may need to close. It’s the most painful outcome of the government’s policy to cut nitrogen emissions in half by 2030. The farmers’ lobby is furious, calling the plan “unrealistic” and an attack on the countryside. Pro-farmer parties have gained in the polls at the expense of the ruling Christian democrats and liberals.
Provincial deputies, who would have to decide on a case-by-case basis which farms can stay and which need to go, fear a backlash in regional elections in March. That would also put the ruling coalition at risk. Provincial deputies elect the Senate.

But when you take a step back from nitrogen pollution and look at the impact of agriculture altogether, the Dutch is not an isolated case at all. It looks more like a preview of the future of intensive animal farming globally, if intensive animal farming has a future at all.
Bring on the crickets.

The Dutch have a different climate change scam, but the result will be the same: human suffering.
Nitrogen is 78% of the air around you, and farming has nothing to do with that.

Close a farm? only if they seed the area with a not-crop that will enrich the land until the city folk start getting hungry.

People need to be extremely wary when politicians start purposefully trying to frick with the food supply.

I saw a video this morning of some farmer dropping big bales of hay on the highway in protest. The cops were trying to push it out of the way and couldn't move them an inch.

Is it possible for these farmers to divert their runoff into a crude wastewater treatment system? Does the government give famers that option?

I have not read the article but I'm pretty sure they are talking about nitrogen runoff from fertilizers.
It's probably causing algae blooms downstream of the farmers and screwing up the fisheries.
ETA: I just read the article, they are talking about nitrous oxide and ammonia emissions in terms of climate change. Good Lord this seems dumb.

In the late 60s a big theme of Leftists was we were going to dies of starvation because of overpopulation. There were supposed to be massive famines by the 80s. That of course, did not happen. (Obesity is the real threat)
But it seems they are working hard to make massive starvation happen, even though it is not necessary.

When WW3 happens and a third of the populations dies we won’t miss those farms one bit.

This could lay the foundation for some form of authoritarianism.
If they do these things in the name of climate and they get voted out as a result, they will see it as their moral obligation to retain power the next time they get it, because the voting people “are too stupid and don’t understand”.

There are other ways to farm by avoiding nitrogen fertilizer inputs altogether. Do some research on regenerative agriculture practices. Being done around the globe right now with much success. Could be one way to avoid government overreach.

But they have a real cool bike culture!

Climate change and Covid are two examples of governments literally making up their own "Rapture" so they can foist their policies and cement their unbreakable power on a terrified population without resistance.
How is this any different from the ANC in South Africa seizing white farms? Here's a hint; its not.

We can just put all the nitrogen in our tires….

This is why the Supreme Court ruling in the EPA case is so important.

Check what's going on in Sri Lanka. Their economy has collapsed and the citizens are hunting down politicians.
Which brings me to the question : why are politicians trying to commit suicide ?
When hungry, angry mobs of people act they may be looking for politicians for heads to put on their pikes.

Nitrogen?
Eh?
Toyota dealership NEEDS that stuff so they can charge me 100 bucks to put it in my tires.
I asked what the benefit is since it’s like 80% of the atmosphere.
Crazed clown world.
Toyota should sue.
