Nitrogen is 78% of the air around you, and farming has nothing to do with that.

Nitrogen isn’t an air pollutant, but a water pollutant. Nitrogen runoff from fertilizer usage feeds algal blooms that cause hypoxia (large swaths of water with no dissolved oxygen). Hypoxia causes massive die-offs of fish and the plant species they rely on in coastal estuaries.

There is a real issue with nitrogen runoff, but eliminating farms isn’t the solution. That’s just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

They’re trying to cut nitrogen emissions? The gas that makes up 78% of our atmosphere?

Why not just drink some Jim Jones coolaide?

Australia is psychotic about this issue because all of the agriculture from the tip of the Cape York peninsula to the Gold Coast drains into their beloved Great Barrier Reef. They regulate the shite out of agriculture, but even the super-libs down under dont shudder farms.

There are other ways to farm by avoiding nitrogen fertilizer inputs altogether. Do some research on regenerative agriculture practices. Being done around the globe right now with much success. Could be one way to avoid government overreach.

It’s not feasible in large scale grain production. We would all starve.

This is what happens when you can get weed at the local coffee shop.

it possible for these farmers to divert their runoff into a crude wastewater treatment system? Does the government give famers that option?

Yes. Farmers here divert runoff into canals called tail water recovery systems to save groundwater. You pump the water from a canal into a holding pond and irrigate out of the pond. Water drains back to canal. You could easily create a way to treat that water if needed

There has to be a way to capture runoff and “clean” the water. Seems more logical that closing down farms. If the solution 8 years from the goal date is shut farms down without looking at other potential ideas then they just wanted an excuse to shut down farms

I saw a video this morning of some farmer dropping big bales of hay on the highway in protest. The cops were trying to push it out of the way and couldn't move them an inch.

Climate Change is the eschatology of neo-Marxism.

For sure. Which is why state legislatures need to tighten up their voting laws to ensure the executive branch can’t unilaterally change the rules like they did in 2020.

The farmers have apparently set numerous hay bales on fire, dumped manure on roads and sprayed liquid manure on government buildings.

I wouldn’t put it past the government to at some point use DEA type tactics to poison farm land
