Ted Cruz says GOP senators were ‘screaming’ at Todd Blanche during ‘anti-weaponization’ fund briefing

Why are they so pissed about this?
quote:
On his podcast “Verdict with Ted Cruz,” the Texas senator described the meeting as “one of the roughest meetings I’ve seen in my entire time in the Senate.” “Fiery does not begin to cut it,” Cruz said. “My guess is there’re probably 45 senators in the room, at least half of them were blasting the attorney general, and they were pissed.”
quote:
Cruz warned that if the administration does not modify the anti-weaponization fund by the time Congress comes back into session, “they’ve got a full-on revolt in the Senate.”
quote:
Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., called the fund a “payout pot for punks,” referencing the fact that the Trump administration had not ruled out the possibility that people convicted of participating in the Jan. 6 riot could be compensated by the fund.
“I think the administration is putting itself in a bad spot,” Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said Thursday, adding, “Congress has had no input.”

The fund is stupid and a political loser. Pretty obvious it’s a bridge too far to normal people.

I get that there are other ways that this could be approached, but I would prefer Republican Senators and Representatives get on board by pointing out the injustices -- but they've already committed to the Establishment position of being really, really, really scared about the Fed-infused "insurrection"**.

Turtle fired some shots over it.

“So the nation’s top law enforcement official is asking for a slush fund to pay people who assault cops? Utterly stupid, morally wrong – Take your pick,” McConnell said in a strongly worded statement after Blanche met with Republican senators to justify the administration’s push to establish the fund.

You could start a GoFundMe for them.

J6 "agressors" were horribly treated as political prisoners.
The fund is more than justified.

Screw anyone who doesn't like this settlement that created this fund.
President Trump could just as easily settled the case for even more money and had it awarded to himself then used $1.776 billion to create his own personal fund to be given to those protesters who were mistreated by the Biden administration DOJ.

So how much would the 100s of FBI assets get who instigated on Jan 6th?

A lot of people got screwed over that day, but there were elements within that protest that were there to cause trouble. Whether you agree with the election results or not, these troublemakers are going to be reimbursed in what looks like a political payoff along withTrumps political Allies.

Because it is blatant political graft negotiated by Trump versus Trump to benefit the friends of Trump. If the democrats did anything like this you would lose your mind.

Wow. A lot of people are misinformed about what this is and how it is to be funded. This is a settlement reached by the Trump family for the criminal actions taken by IRS officials. The DOJ and the trump family agreed to a settlement where it will be set up for citizens who have been wronged by the government. The trump family doesn't get a dime just an apology. They are going to set up a 5 person panel to distribute the money on a case by case basis. Congress wrote the law in the 1950s stating that the DOJ can issue settlements. Congress is pissed because the DOJ can tell Congress to get bent on this this issue. Look at the most recent settlements with prior administrations. Now that this the defi7it graft!

FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, whose text messages revealed a key role in promoting the Clinton campaign’s Russia collusion narrative, filed suit against the Department of Justice over the release of their communications. The pair alleged that the publication of their messages, which were sent using government devices, constituted a violation of their privacy rights. Despite the controversy, both Strzok and Page received sizable financial settlements from the Biden administration—Strzok was awarded $1.2 million in taxpayer funds, while Page secured an $800,000 payout.

First, I doubt congress envisioned a case in which the DOJ was controlled by the same guy who would benefit. And Trump does benefit from this.
Second, this is what, $1.7 billion? That’s not what is pissing congress off.
