No the United States is completely fricked if China takes Taiwan because we will have ZERO Semiconductors and China will have 90% of the global semiconductor market. We will be totally dependent on China--effectively crippled domestically and internationally.

We’re already there. They control our pharmaceutical supplies as well. China won.

shite, Afghani Interpreters are trying to hide their English books and burning ALL of their military awards/insignia.

I've posted several pleas from Afghani interpreters the past couple of days. Their plight is sad, as they will be one of the main Taliban targets.

Here comes the Congressmen saying we need to fund resistance to the Taliban.

Has the Northern Alliance officially been re-founded yet? Probably some now-former Afghan officials who would love to have more US funding.

What we’ve just show is we won’t do a damn thing to Russia or China for either of their expansion desires.

We showed that when we didn't do anything about Crimea.

I don't think what's happening in Afghanistan is comparable to former soviet bloc.

No we haven't crossed that bridge yet we are just in the 1st quarter of the football game. You think there is a severe shortage of goods now when they take Taiwan there won't be any goods at your local Walmart, Target, BestBuy, John Deere, Auto dealer, boat dealer, hunting shop, etc.

We are still getting chips right now which is why we are in the 1st quarter.

We’re entering the third quarter as far as I can see.

I imagine US intelligence assets across the globe are panicking right now. No one will trust is for a long time.

I mean that's part of the intel lifestyle, though. No?

Although, It's something to think about and it may affect some folks.

Lindsay Graham and Rep. Waltz are on board.

Cut them off. They want this. They had overhwelming numbers and support from the US and they still rolled over.

We can't save countries (Vietnam/Afghanistan/Iraq) from themselves. Ever again. Another 9/11 type event? Turn those sands to glass and let Allah sort them out.

Also true, but it felt like Trump undid that perception with how he handled Iran and coordinating ME alliances around them as well.

Hope not, but they have no seeming disincentive to taking what they want there and there’s no chance they don’t want a reestablishment of the European buffer they once enjoyed and the status that comes with it.

I'll give Vietnam some kudos. They've become a nice friend to us in the long run.

Republican member of the house armed services committee says that the papers that Afghans need to gain asylum and entrance to the US are the same ones that will get them killed if the Taliban find them at their house or at a checkpoint.

I guess if the Taliban have the US or Afghan government documentation it’s possible it won’t matter, but jeez what an awful decision to have to make.

Ghani covertly working with the Taliban through the Chinese and Pakistani government. The Chinese and Pakistani's threatened Ghani & his family with a public Taliban lynching. So he followed their directions and called for the stand down and handover to the Taliban and then fled the country. The US was so incompetent that they trusted Ghani and were outraged when he flipped sides. Ghani was purportedly given $100 million dollars and safe passage for this by Pakistan. It explains why the Biden administration was calling for Ghani's dismissal last week but at that point it was all over with.

An intelligence failure of massive portions.

how does this square with the report that he tried to flee with bags of cash.

Seems odd if he has $100 million waiting for him in Pakistan.

That's the beauty of our political class. They can do both at once!
