Does Trump get any credit?

Here's some data to consider......

Median cost of a house in December of 2019 .....$300k
Median cost of a home in December of 2025......$405K
Median cost of a new auto in December of 2019......$39k
Median cost of a new auto in December of 2025......$50k
Price for a gallon of milk in December of 2019.....$2.87/gal
Price for a gallon of milk in December of 2025.....4.05/gal
Average price for homeowners insurance in 2019.......$1300/year
Average price of homeowners insurance in 2025......$2700/year

True cumulative inflation (products, services and certain assets) over the past 7 years is somewhere between 40-45%.

I'm quite happy with my equity investments with Trump as president but it's the destruction of the purchasing power of the USD that's really concerning.
Does it really matter if the stock market increases 50-60-70% over a 5-10 year period if your purchasing power is reduced by 50% or more?

Remember when comrade Bernie Sanders would rail on and on about millionaires and billionaires? Well, Bernie has dropped the millionaires from his anti capitalism rants and replaced it with billionaires and trillionaires.

Something to consider.

I guess it depends on how much you have. If you are living on Social Security, no debt and 400k in your 401k, inflation/purchasing power will have an impact. If you have 3mill plus and live a moderate lifestyle, inflation does not have an impact on your life.

Maybe. All I can remember is several of my friends discussing how our 401k's were flatlined for nearly 2 years.

It only seemed to take off during 1 year prior to the election. Wonder why that was, again.

I’m almost 61 years old. This market will help me tremendously when I retire at the end of next year. That will be 37 years in law enforcement with two careers.

That said, it’s just a matter of time until we have some sort of massive correction. We’re setting all kinds of bad debt records plus we’re in a new forever war with Iran. What could possibly go wrong.

It’s BS to blame inflation and affordability on Trump. Biden did this shite with his horrendous presidency. The courts are bending over backwards to resist Trump and sustain Biden’s terrible policy.

Can you let me know when this will take place? I've heard this from multiple "experts" for over a year now.

No it's not. He started it in 2020 and his current economic policy is one of inflation.

Increase in government spending will result in inflation. We are going to double the debt yet again.

The idea you are going to benefit is a serious lack in understanding economics.

It still has an impact but nothing like the person who is depending on social security for the bulk of their income.

Here's a story about a couple I know fairly well.

They both worked +45 years and retired around 2019/2020. They had saved what they thought was enough money to live on. With their combine social security benefits and the growth of their investments, they thought they were set.

Once Bidinflation kicked in for a couple of years they both began working part time jobs in 2022 and they are still working part time jobs and they're both in their early 70's. They also voted for Jotato.

As someone that hasn't had a 401K as long as most on this board probably I am loving the stock market since Trump got in. That being said I am fully prepared to be disappointed when his term is up especially if a democrat gets elected

We have had lots of inflation. Stocks are subject to inflation too. Equities have gone up faster than inflation, but that delta is the actual increase in value.

Well stated. There’s no way the stock market can’t go up when the feds print and spend like they do. Making the stock market go up is easy. Dealing with the inevitable repercussions will be hard.

SPFLC is still giving credit to Biden and lamenting about tariffs.

100%

What is the statistic, only about 55% of people have retirement accounts and only 45% have 1k lying around to cover an emergency expense?

The avg person in America doesn't give a shite about the stock market, they are looking at everyday prices.

I am grateful to Trump for a record high stock market.

I am also very ungrateful to Trump that I had to pay $4.49/gallon to fill up yesterday.

I can see how its hard for the normal person to ignore $4+/gallon prices as well as a consistently increasing cost of living when judging Trump on the economy.

Most of these people aren’t net tax payers (they get more than they give) and shouldn’t be able to vote.
