he will filibuster any pick that is not Merrick Garland and that the vast majority of his caucus will oppose Trump’s nomination.

Civics lesson: you don't have to filibuster something that doesn't have enough votes to pass.

Seeing RGB at the inauguration she should be retiring soon. I'm sure she'll try to hold on until the next election

If trump was smart he would nominate someone with a great civil liberties record. He's prob. going to nominate a Jeff sessions type.

Easy for him to say. Let's see if he keeps Joe Manchin and the rest of the red state senators up for reelection on board.

Trump didn't do anything to them.

I don't think this will work out well for the democrats.

She will try.

She can't keep telling the God of Death "not today" forever though.

Trump said he would nominate a candidate in the mold of Scalia, as he should.

Mitch McConnell said Trump will get his nominees through confirmation either the easy way or the hard way, but they will be confirmed.

Not for a Supreme Court nominee, unless they use the nuclear option. The nominee will need 60 votes, so they'll need 8 Dems to vote with them.

Loophole- nominate Garland, emasculate him in the hearing, vote him down.

Then dare the Dems to filibuster the next guy.

I suggest that we follow Harry Reid's blueprint and change the Senate rules.

I know the press will slam our side, but we didn't start this war they did.

Can someone explain what this means? I get the gist, but how can they legally make a vote that normally requires 60 to drop to 50? Just trying to understand it

You change the Senate rules. Supermajority cloture exists only as a matter of traditional rule.
