with a lame duck POTUS
Even CNN admitted the old DC protocol of when a lameduck POTUS can or should appoint a SCOTUS nominee; regardless of any circumstances. The short amount of time didn't leave the SCOTUS in any real bind. So, this is why Obama didn't appoint Merrick Garland.

You change the Senate rules
Who changes the rules? The Senate Majority Leader? And why wouldn't both sides do that every time they have a simple majority?

The Senate votes on it and a simple majority is required. Look it up. There are plenty articles explaining it.

Most people understand game theory. Harry Reid's band of lovable losers didn't.

Yep, Dems are going to have to live with this. They lost and elections have consequences.

There should be no scenario where Claire McCaskill wins re-election. None whatsoever.

Playing by the Republican playbook I guess. Sucked when they did it. Sucks now.
However, if you didn't have a problem with Garland's handling then you are a complete hypocrite now.

Garland can get an up or down vote IMHO. It'll just be down.

This is where Trump's falling approval numbers could be influential

Damn. That's going to be a tough one for Democrats

If there's one thing you should absolutely do, it is rely on Trump's polling.
