The twitterer is inaccurate. Ballots will still be counted after election day. It appears it is about whether late arriving mail-in ballots will be allowed. So potentially no more acceptance of mail-ins after election day, not that counts won't continue for days.

You are missing it, there is no reason to count for days on end if you have them in on Election day, then that is all, California was "WINK WINK" Waiting on ballots that were coming in fir weeks after election day. They loved that, you can this see how many you need and produce them, hell a crooked Post Office Employee could BACK DATE them if needed.

They need to stop the months long voting also.

I need people who oppose this to explain why we’re the only place in the West that insists on counting for weeks?

Hopefully, along with Detroit, Atlanta, Maricopa County, etc.

PS - "Justice Ebonics" Hand clap to the poster who came up with that one. Sadly, she's a Supreme Court Justice but the name fits her well (But, is the joke on her, or us, or the entire country?).

So, back to the ‘pre-Chad’ era, though pre-Covid I suppose is the goal.

America’s top jurists struggle
Mightily with this fundamental question.

They lost sleep over over it.

Forced to call their constituents and say ‘we backed in a corner, sorry, you are gonna have to learn how to cheat faster.’

Upvote to OP.

Make election days national holidays and require votes be counted by end of day.

That should quash 99% of arguments about folks not being able to vote.

Washington state got around this by continuing to shuffle in more votes on each count until they got the result they wanted.

This 1 hundo. At the very least, let us know who won when we wake up the next morning. Jesus Christ.

And if someone is leading by a mathematically insurmountable lead at midnight, we should not hear that they lost the next day.

It Will STRIKE DOWN All State Laws Allowing Ballots to Be Counted AFTER Election Day!

Will this force the states that can't/don't count early and mail in ballots BEFORE election day to finally start doing so?

I am definitely not opposed to banning the counting of ballots that arrive after election day. In fact, I think mail-in votes should be only for military and those who are in the hospital, and maybe a few more very strict exceptions.
But the argument for it is that processing times have become erratic as the USPS shut down local sorting centers. What should matter is the postmark day because the received day is, to some extent or another, outside the control of the voter.

Move the mail in received date up a couple days. Incredibly simple, problem solved.

But then Democrats couldn't bitch about how Republicans and SCOTUS are fascists by taking away voting rights.

I am looking forward to "judge" jumanji's dissent tome. Would be great if she would break it down into chapters with a table of contents this time.
