Sadly The Odyssey will probably sweep the Woke Oscars.

I’m putting this in the Political Talk instead of Movies because this is all 100% about politics.
Why will The Odyssey sweep the Oscars?
Simply because it is falsely adored by the Left. I guarantee you many critics that gave if glowing reviews on Rotten Tomatoes did so so they wouldn’t be cancelled.
They did this with ‘One Battle After Another.’ There was no way that movie was the best picture last year. And we all know what that movie was about.
There is a classic scene in the 1977 movie ‘The Goodbye Girl’ where Richard Dreyfus’s character plays the lead in Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III.’
The director, Mark, insists that Richard be portrayed as a flamboyant, exaggerated gay stereotype, stripping away the traditional deformity and menace because he believes he is presenting a daring modern interpretation.
As expected with the performance, the audience’s reaction tells us everything.
People are bewildered and uncomfortable. A substantial portion of the audience walks out before the play ends. The applause is weak or virtually nonexistent.
Then one woman leaps up and cries “Bravo!” with absurd, almost hysterical enthusiasm. I think Neil Simon intended her primarily as a theatrical joke about indiscriminate avant-garde supporters, the one person who will passionately applaud something dreadful because she believes it is bold, progressive or experimental.
That’s your Leftist Woke film critics today.
Trust me, when the Academy Awards roll around next year, I’m downloading Kalshi and putting significant money on The Odyssey. It’s a lock!

When someone makes something to appease a group of people it never works out.

I totally agree. But tragically it plays a major role in The Culture War. Hopefully viewership keeps going down yearly.

It really is a good look into politics and the elite as a whole.
Hollywood: we have a movie that has low audience score, but we’re going to have our critics says it awesome and give it awards.
We’re going to do what we want regardless of you peasants and your opinions.
Politicians: we have an agenda and we will sell ourselves to you in order to get elected and push our agenda. We will praise each other and hide/pass bills/legislation to protect our own over you.
We’re going to do what we want regardless of you peasants and your opinions.

I don't keep up with modern movies so lots of ya'll may know this. But your movie cannot be nominated for an Oscar unless it meets the quotas in casting. They require a certain number of blacks and females in lead roles.

Imagine waking up On a Saturday and Chernobyl melting about the Oscar’s and a fictional movie
Posted on 7/18/26 at 9:04 am to Geekboy
can I assume since you say all this that you are boycotting watching this movie?
Posted on 7/18/26 at 9:06 am to Geekboy
You posted all that when you could've just said, "I'm a whiny little bitch" in a lot less words. Up early on a Saturday morning complaining about the race fictional characters.
"Greek gods, Mermaids, and Jesus! The Holy Trinity of pure whiteness!"

What do you think the total audience for the Oscars is now?
I bet if you took the total number of white households inside our major cities (not suburbs), it’s less than that.

“Arghhh I’m mad that this fictional story is not all white people!”

Nolan is the best filmmaker this century. I’m not going to cry about him winning an Oscar for a modern epic.

For shits and giggles I just looked at the list of past winners, and the 2008 winner Slumdog Millionaire is the most recent movie winner I’ve even heard of.
