People do this shite for a living and have devised formulas based on pre-release ticket sales, audience awareness, and what movie theaters are reporting with their day-of ticket sales. This is a side of the movie industry that has existed since the earliest days.

Sounds like those monthly jobs numbers we got during the Biden years that always were quietly revised downward several months later.

No, this is a fair bit more accurate because there is an infrastructure in place that makes calculating box office returns far more accurate than counting net jobs gained. Not to mention, of course, that the latter is a highly partisan enterprise regardless of who is in office while the other is very business-oriented. Accuracy actually matters because investors want to find out if their millions they put into a production were well-spent.

Most tickets are bought online before people arrive at the theater. Particularly for a movie that is doing well at the box office. I can't even find a decent seat at the IMAX screening for tomorrow so might opt for the regular screen.

It's set in ancient Greece and there isn't a single Greek actor in it. There are people of color as well as a transsexual named Elliot (formerly Ellen) Page.
That all being said, as a film, it's fantastic. I didn't think it woke at all and came away thoroughly entertained - which should be the point of movies. However, there are those on the right who don't want to surrender a single thing in our culture war, which is noble on the surface. But they are depriving themselves of a good time just because there are black and Asian actors in a film that takes place in a time and place where black and Asians most likely wouldn't have been.
At the end of the day, however, it's just a movie. I learned very recently that I shouldn't let shite such as casting decisions piss me off and take my enjoyment out of life.

Right. Seems foolish. Being a purist on the culture war issue is a personal choice but not one I think worth making.
I do see some irony in it though. These people are becoming triggered by the most inconsequential things and becoming the snowflakes they once hated.
One of the more ridiculous things was The Little Mermaid as if the redhead from the Disney movie was the original or something.

In this case, however, both Homer and contemporary critics - Sappho and Euripides to name two - make clear that Helen was beautiful, fair skinned, with white arms, with light hair and eyes, so why but for the sake of moron wokeness would anyone cast it this way? This actress literally does not fit the playbill.
If you want to screw with the story to this extent, why not just grow some actual creativity and make a different movie?
