Just changed my Avatar for him. Never met him or talked to him other than on here but I found him to be a truly unique and very genuine. I disagreed with him on particular thing but never took offense and actually understood my point of view. From all accounts he was a very passionate Christian and conservative American. He is one of the posters I would loved to have met and drank a few beers with. All my prayers goes to him and his partner. The Tiger nation mourns for one of its most devoted.

You also are never "healed" following any tragedy or loss. You just eventually move on, but the loss is never "healed." It is always a loss and a pain in the hearts of the surviving loved ones."

We often disagreed on a lot but I had great debates with him in the past to the point they were fairly explosive. I always respected and appreciated his passion for what he believed in and he was one to never ever leave anything unsaid in the epic rants he would post on this board. I've been here for three years and he always stood out to me regardless of the content of his posts.

RIP to LAT.

Prayers sent to his family and friends.

SoCal chapter past-president Charley Jeffery uses a microphone to lead a chant. “We’re No. 1!” he bellows, and soon the crowd screams with him.
quote:

LSU’s fast and powerful offense dazzles the Buckeyes defense with five touchdowns. Tiger fans go from worry to exalting, and the Tigers go on to win, 38-24.

The crowd hugs, high-fives and breaks into the LSU fight song. The fantastic afterglow of victory envelops the room. Past chapter president Jeffery is basking in it, with an LSU mug in one hand and a stuffed Tiger beside him on the bar. “Our culture is so unique and I’m extremely proud to carry the torch to L.A.”

Just getting around to seeing this. He was a worthy poster and a seemingly passionate and great person. He will be missed.

Godspeed, LAT.

Wow...Very sad news. LAT was one of the early ones around here back when we got the Poli board started. We both grew up in the Shreveport/Bossier area in the late 70's and had many late night discussions on all the old places back in those days. I had the pleasure of meeting him, SanFran, TigerGirl and a few others from here at the TD tailgate before the Fresno State game a few years ago. Very nice guy. I know he seemed to be battling some demons the past few years, I truly hope he is resting in peace....So long ole friend!!!

God speed, LAT. Honest and spirited defender of his principles. I consider him a Tiger brother, and kindred spirit as well. Will be sorely missed on the board.

Our time is limited, and thereby of great value. Never know when a post might be our last.

Later...brother.

RIP L.A. Tiger

I don't come here often, but when I do it was LAT's posts that really stood out to me (along with some others) He would be on the Mt Rushmore of the Poliboard

He really seemed to be a tortured soul in many ways.

If I remember correctly his father was a vietnam vet who was treated very poorly after returning from the war. He also seemed quite tortured over being gay. His religion and his sexuality caused problems.

Some of the older people remember that he and I had gotten into it a couple of times and in fact he crossed the line once with me. Eventually his offensive posts got taken down and he was much more civil after that.

He was an emotionally charged and passionate man and from what limited experience I had with him from a message board a man with a strong conscience. Honestly, he would be someone who would stand by you no matter what.

Though we had our disagreements, we agreed more than a few times much to our shared mocked chagrin.

Basically, the world will be a far worse place since he passed. The world will always be in need of people like him. I hope and pray that he has found the peace that at times he has a tough time finding here. I am sure that his family, which meant the world to him, were there to greet him.

Though, shockingly enough, I am a temple owl fan, for Charley Jeffery I will say as loud as I can on a message board...

Yep, it was often you and I double teaming him (pun intended) and having our way with him (pun also intended), but he always managed to fight back gloriously. I always liked a good internet smack talk, and LAT was among the best on this site. Kind of like Lex Luthor at Superman's funeral, I sincerely mean that I will miss him.

Honestly, even when he was alive, LAT was the poster I pitied the most. I do think he was incredibly frustrated over it, and even to his death could not come to terms with it. Despite my shitting on him, I really think he was the poster I single most rooted for. He clearly had a good heart and tried with all of will power to live a just and good life. I just wish he was able to compensate his religion and what I think was likely his sexuality. I honestly admire his passion, enthusiasm, and his true resilience. I'm being completely sincere on saying that TD lost a great poster today and I am very saddened by it.

I hope he's found the peace on the other side that he's always sought and wish his spirit the best. If you're looking down, just know that you will be thought of on this board for quite some time.

Sorry to hear this. He was a colorful poster, and his passion for LSU was never questioned.

I am confused by some of the posts in this thread, and I don't mind asking because I know he'd answer if he were here, but what were his quote on quote "demons" that he battled with, and did they have anything to do with his passing?

I think a sizable portion of posters think he was a closet homosexual and was never able to come to terms with it. It's sad too since I think in this day and age it would be acceptable for him to come out, but his resounding faith prevented him. I never personally knew him, but it was the impression I got from his posts. I do know he'll be missed though.

Okay, so there's no homosexual connotation with the use of the term "partner?"
