It was important to him that he be perceived as a good man who happened to be gay and not a good gay who happened to be a man. Not to be disrespectful of Toddy whom I also like tremendously, but he was really the anti-Toddy. He did NOT want to be defined by his sexuality. I agreed with him and respected him for it.
On a personal note -he ALWAYS had my back. He never wavered and if I would make a misstep he would give me the benefit of the doubt (very rare on this hyper-critical board). I feel like I've lost a trusted wing man.

He was not at all "in the closet" on here either. Sure he didn't spout it off in every post (hell, I don't know that I've ever discussed being straight), by he certainly never made it a secret.

I knew he was gay but didn't know he was out or that he had a partner. Are we positive that he was and did?

Yeah, the partner thing throws me too. I would have thought abstinence was his approach. Based on what I read.
It seemed like he felt a lot of gays messed things up for people like him.

thank you...and I'm not at all offended. I'd much rather answer questions than have people speculating or making shite up. You know how he hated people talking out of their arse.

It surprises me, too, but this isn't the place to discuss anything more than happiness that he had someone and sympathy for those who knew him.
Even in death, he surprises us.

Can you share with us how/why he died?

he was anti "gay agenda" for all of his time on here (whatever that may be). He was also passionate about what he thought were reckless gay lifestyles and many times talked about friends of his who died of AIDS. But over the last couple of years it seemed he was veering more towards a fundamentalist Christian viewpoint and struggled reconciling his sexuality with that. Just my opinion from afar though...

He seemed to be very comfortable in who he was and his animus was toward gays whose sole identity could be gleaned from whom they had sex with rather than the myriad things that make up who we are.
I hope he finds comfort in the arms of his lord and savior.

Hey, NoHo. Wish his partner all the love and well wishes from those who knew him only briefly, but respected him immensely all the same.

I just searched the LA Times for an obit and nothing came up.
The Louisiana Times.

Exactly. He wasn't "anit-gay". He was just against the Gay Terrorist because it gave gays a bad name.
One of my favorite posters and someone whose posts I would always read.
RIP L_A_T.
