You want to delineate the entire ethnographic history of Ukrainians? Is your end-game some idiotic idea about how Ukraine and Russia are the same or something?

Why are some people pro-Russia? I can understand apathy, not supporting Russia’s invasion.

Some of these people have had a man crush on Putin since the Obama years

It's odd

They probably don’t understand it either.

Russia loves winter warfare.

The next 6-8 weeks will be decisive.

If 4cubbies is single you two would make a great couple. Matching pussy hats would be awesome.

Of all the points to make in this thread about Russia, this is what you want to discuss.

I didn’t ask for a discussion.

It was a suggestion.

You ok?

Nossir. Just the chaotic times after the USSR dissolved and the remaining Russian government sought help from the US with "perestroika" and "Glasnost". They wanted the US to help. Not help themselves, (US).

That is how they ended up with a DRUNK and incompetant Yeltsin, who "WE" essentially installed.

It was a pathetic attempt at an insult at best

Maybe add something to the conversation instead?

Ok. Of all the ideas to share in a thread about Russia, that’s what you want to… suggest?

Kinda weird. I definitely wasn’t expecting concern or “suggestions” about my relationship status in a thread about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Brother, you have a naïve view of foreign relations if you think the US was there to 'help.' You guys have the weirdest ideas about how power works. There are no friends or enemies in international politics, only interests.

The US, under the late Reagan and Bush admin, was explicit about its maximalist goals. The US has followed those maximalist goals pretty closely. If we follow some of theories laid out by Mearsheimer, mentioned in this thread, then the US was practicing offensive realism. Why Russia gets a pass for being too weak to resist the US, and still being too weak to resist the US-led world, is another question.

I would give it a few more days to see if Russia has indeed fully controlled the city. Both side tent to exaggerate on “capture” vs “entered” with forces. Fighting in the area has been high body counts on both sides.

So, our interest in the Ukraine is to weaken Russia, correct?

We have lots of interests in the region, as securing a united Europe gives no room for China to make headway into the region. It also gives a time and avenue to test out weaponry, to draw a nearly defeated enemy into a quagmire it cannot solve, and to show the world at large that the benefits of the American led order are far greater than a multipolar world. We don't a have singular interest in Ukraine, we have several.

Can you just get to the point of your exceedingly boring questions?

Down to the last “In Soledar, no one counts the dead,” he added.

The soldier said it was unclear as of Tuesday night how much of the town was held by the Russians: “No one can definitely say who moved where and who holds what, because no one knows for sure. There is a huge grey area in the city that everyone claims to control, [but] it’s just any empty hype.”

The Ukrainians have lost many troops in Soledar but the ranks are being replenished as the fight for the mining town continues, he said: “The personnel of our units have been renewed by almost half, more or less. We do not even have time to memorize each other’s call signs [when new personnel arrive].”

The soldier said that he believed Ukraine’s military leaders would eventually abandon the fight for Soledar and questioned why they hadn’t done this yet. “Everyone understands that the city will be abandoned. Everyone understands this,” he said. “I just want to understand what the point [in fighting house to house] is. Why die, if we are going to leave it anyway today or tomorrow?”

Same old cold war. US doing things they don't want Russian doing.

We got out of the middle east conflict, so they have to have somewhere beat the drums and raise pretend patriotism.

Prophetic words from Professor John Mearsheimer in 2015:

"The West is leading Ukraine down the primrose path and the end result is that Ukraine is going to get wrecked."
