I agree with this 100%.

They're either our bases we pay for or they're they're bases they pay for and we choose whether to deploy to but we should absolutely not be paying to maintain bases that we can't use as needed.

How are you this dumb?

Do you understand that US weaponry is the exact reason why Ukraine has been able to hang on this long?

Now imagine we stopped supporting Ukraine and the UN, what Russia and China could do to that part of the world.

Upon abandonment of any bases, immediately destroy all assets paid for by our tax dollars. Buildings, roads, runways, other infrastructure etc. No sense in supplying the "enemy", we should have learned that by now.

He's not wrong. The US money that is put into these bases has a direct impact on that country's economy.

80 years of paying for this stuff down the drain.

Those are sunk costs whether we stay or go. I'm not sure closing them is a good idea, but that we've operated them for 80 years is not a strong argument for paying for an asset you can't use.

Sunk costs should never factor into discussions about potential new expenditures. Don’t throw good money after bad.

We paid for them so that the Europeans could pay for healthcare and social engineering. We should expect a minimum amount of payback, if only in being allowed to use them as they were intended.

get out of NATO, close the bases and turn a deaf ear when the EU screams about the negative impact on their economy because we're pulling out of both

I said this last week - Europe would be better off without NATO. They are far too dependent on us, and the reason they are all fricked up now is because they can afford to be. You can afford to act stupid when you big brother is basically Mike Tyson in a room of 5th grade bullies.

It isn't in anyone's interest, including theirs, to be wholly reliant on us for their national security.

It’s not even that. The objective of Russia’s special military operation was to take the three ethnic Russian speaking regions of eastern Ukraine being harassed and terrorized by the installed western backed government in Kiev. Putin could level Kiev tomorrow if he wanted to and Europe would still do nothing, nor would we because we won’t put boots on the ground, at least more than we already have in special ops.

Little Marco needs to go back to school and learn that those bases are there for deterrence against NATO members, not to launch wars of aggression on a whim. Last I checked, iran ain't at war with nato members in europe

I suspect “Little Marco” possesses plenty of knowledge on the ever changing dynamics of foreign relations in this world and what may have evolved to be entangled alliances vs. truly beneficial alliances.

Certainly much more inside knowledge than an anonymous message board hack will ever possess.

It's not just that, US active duty presence at one of their installations drops a crap ton of revenue into their economies. Many of these idiots have went so far Green that the US dropping out would send their economies into a tailspin.

Hello guys, newbie from Western Europe here.
Can't ignore the news, that's why registered. This list of traitors, especially Spain, has a simple explanation: Sanchez is a communist. I hope you, dear Americans, are aware that a world communist revolution is currently underway?

What we can't haul out, destroy it, down to the light bulbs. Their social programs will collapse when they have to fund their defenses out of their own pockets
