Me doing my best BoarEd / Ailsa impersonation.

quote:

Marco Rubio is on resignation watch.

Sources say he’s preparing to quit as Secretary of State to launch a 2028 presidential bid, wanting to distance himself from Trump and the Iran war.

He’s perhaps the leading Republican candidate right now, ahead of JD Vance and Ron DeSantis.

Vance moved fast after the midterms, publicly blaming the Iran war for the losses. Rubio hasn’t. But behind the scenes, he’s been notably quiet on Iran for months.

Up to 5 cabinet members are reportedly preparing to exit the administration.

The 2028 race is already gearing up...

Rubio, Vance, DeSantis will be interesting to watch.

Trump is a lame duck buffoon now and it's frustrating to see after what he ran on in 2015/2016 - 2024.

I'm telling you, the Dems are going to stroke Trump's ego so hard. He'll approve everything that they ask him to.

dems wont show up in this thread to make fun of your source like they usually do, but I digress..

I've said this for 2 years now. The pendulum was always going to swing, and the timing is right for Ron. People laughed at his campaign and rightfully so, but the timing of his departure from Trump was perfection, and now that Byron Donalds is taking over in Florida, It gives Ron plenty of space to build a formidable campaign that gives Republicans a break from Trump without giving up on the things we liked about MAGA. Ron is the future.

Perhaps, but a lot can change in 2 yrs. Look at what happened between 2024 to 2026.

I mentioned something similar to a friend.
He is going to be desparate to establish his legacy and historical mark on his presidency. Working with dems on something big would be up his alley. It might be something that conservatives or GOP wouldn't want to go along with and he woudl turn his barbs to GOP like he does when somebody disagrees.

Rubio going out on the road to tell you why we needed to go to war with Iran. LMAO.

Rubio is garbage.

Hell Iran was probably his damn idea!

Is he going to campaign on his involvement with the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to subvert and destroy Trump's 1st term?

Rubio is Pence 2.0

If the DEMs spend the next 2 years trying to impeach everyone under the sun then the GOP has a shot. Dems really need to avoid the shiny hook to satisfy the very fringe leftist and try to get the same voters that got them this wave.

Rubio and JD are toast.

Ron D is the only answer.

That neo-con has as much of a chance of winning the Presidency as Auburn does the football national championship this year. Not surprising he's the first to jump ship, though. He has always been a naked opportunist.

Trump was the bull in a china shop that was needed in 2015/2016, but his antics ran their course and jumped the shark a long time ago. The movement needed to be handed over to a more refined leader once Trump's part was done. DeSantis would have been the logical handoff 4 years ago. Now he faces an uphill battle getting his own movement off the ground from scratch.

So you think Lindsay Graham is still alive then since I've mentioned him in this sentence? Lol

Rubio potentially has a political future beyond 2028 unlike Trump and maga
