You really think people are worried about fitting into a nice bucket labeled “conservative”?

This is literally the same argument that Democrats since Tip O’Neill have been using to keep from reforming SS

No. We know you’re not. We’re just reminding you that you don’t have any ideology other than “Trump.”

Not an analogous question.

Do you, as a Desantis supporter want to obliterate SS and Medicare?

Exactly, which is why I think it's weird that anybody would self describe that way. But they do.

Most Trumpers do not consider themselves big spending/big gov't types, I'm pretty sure.

Are you? How many do you see question his spending, or kicking the can down the road for SS? I see Trump voters question those things, but the Trumpanzees make excuses for anything and everything. Spending wasn't his fault, anybody would have done exactly what he did for covid, etc etc etc. Whatever Trump does, they'll either outright defend or at a minimum make excuses for it.

Trump didn't veto the spending.

Do you realize congress has not passed a line item budget since 2008? Every budget since then has been a continuing resolution (with the 2008 $800 billion Stimulus still included) with a COLA attached to each CR.

Do you realize Trump's admin actively negotiated for ALL of the Covid relief spending? They were a literal direct participant and no deal would be struck without their approval.

Regardless of my support of DeSantis, as a rational actor who understands math, Social Security and Medicare must be reformed if they are to continue in any sort of meaningful way. If that is “obliterating” Social Security and Medicare, then so be it.

They are both as unsustainable as Canada’s government healthcare system.

Lol. DeSantis has proposed nothing that looks like this.
quote:

During his time in Congress, DeSantis voted to increase Social Security's full eligibility age threshold to 70 on three separate occasions. This included his support for the FY 2016 Republican Study Committee Budget Resolution in 2015.

Under this proposal, there would be a gradual hike of two months per year until the FRA reaches 70. For those born in 1962, the retirement age would be raised to age 67 and two months while the FRA would hit 70 for individuals born in 1979 or later.

LINK
When Trump called this rightfully out, DeSantis didn't speak about it again. Bottom line. Any establishment President would back Paul Ryan's old plan.

You just described how the GOPe has governed over the last 2.5 decades.

And there are two ways to accomplish this. I’ll let you figure it out.

So you’re not unhappy with that type of governance. You just want a “fresh face.” Got it.

And it's the president's job to guide the legislative branch into drafting legislation that fits with their vision. Trump sucked at doing that and will continue to suck at doing that if he gets a second term. He is ineffective at doing anything that has staying power. He's a clown and you're a bigger clown for not figuring it out.

Yes, in all seriousness, I know my hopes won't happen until the total collapse, but avoiding real reform is insanity.

Even small things like raising the age of receipt.

Too many people have bought into the Leftist lies about the nature of SS and they ignore that it's not a retirement plan but a redistributive welfare program.

I actually view you as a lib. But just assumed you were pretending to support Desantis for the image of it.

Who do you support?
