It's not BS. They have 2 very different ideas on how to fix it.

I have not heard eigther of the 'ideas'

The ad I am thinking of is demeaning DeSantis because he merely mentioned having to fix it when he was in the congress.

I do not know of any DJT proposal - have not heard him even mention it.

/\ my screed above is based on what I have seen weeks ago -

IF there is some new SS proposal from both of them, then I withdraw my post until I have studied it.

I do not mind having dueling ideas for fixing SS - but what I saw earlier was that the ads against DeSantis was for merely mentioning it while he was in congress.

Been out of the loop for couple of days - I may not be up on recent developments.

But my statement still holds - anyone using "he wants to DeStroY SS" will NEVEr get my vote.

Are you really of the belief it can be reformed? Really? I’m not talking about on paper. Sure mathematically it might work. But do you really believe that electing people to congress to apply that math is possible?

If nothing is done soon, the fix will be to lift the cap (a huge tax increase) which is what the Democrats want. I believe Trump wants this also since his position is to do nothing.

I get it. You believe in the ponzi. I don’t.

I meant small minority in terms of the number of people that are willing to vote for a candidate promising SS cuts.

Politically Trump is playing to the majority.

Sure... because he's desperate for votes. A real leader makes difficult decisions not ones that are popular for the sake of election. You support a loser.

Vote for the guy supporting SS cuts. That’s your choice. Good luck.

What do you think Trump is doing moron?

Doing nothing = SS cuts. Trump is promising you cuts in 10 years.

I do not see how you don't understand that.

1. End FICA

2. Pay for SS and Medicare from the general fund

And these retards think they come out ahead in that...I'm assuming they're not welfare kings and queens already.

So you are saying elect your guy for cuts or elect Trump to do noting which is tantamount to cuts?

Oh I am being honest.

Trump's solution requires ever-increasing payouts from Social Security. A runaway spending program.

Nope...

DeSantis wants to curb the spending.

No he wants to abandon what was promised to the citizens of the USA.

I’ll say it…yes I do. Both are outdated programs that are unsustainable. It would be nice if a politician actually had the balls to say this but few, if any, do.

For all of Trumps claims of being a proven warrior ready to shake up the establishment, he sure acts like a total establishment politician on this issue.

Bottom line I don't trust DC. I don't trust any establishment contender.

I certainly don't trust Paul Ryan's plan; or any of the shadow govt that writes all the legislation so we can know what is in it like Pelosi says.

Trump ran an ad stating what DeSantis was wanting to do to "Fix it" while in congress.

That fix is to change your retirement.

quote:

I do not know of any DJT proposal - have not heard him even mention it.

He wants to change how it's funded while winding it down.

The money going to foreign wars and more.. Right now, that money can not go into that fund.... but they damn sure took it out.

So basically, he's anti-stealing from those that paid in.

If you do nothing, like Trump wants, there will be a 20% across the board cut for everyone in 10 years.

"The updated projections, in the annual trustee report, mean that without action to stabilize the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund, Social Security would have enough money to pay about 77% of the total scheduled benefits."

You can raise the retirement age to 70 for those younger than 50 and do a smaller cut, i.e. "change the equation". If you do this you can save the program. You do this to avoid the 20% cut.

Trump will give us the 20% cut. Do you understand?
