Since 2024, he has quietly distanced himself from Trump and MAGA. He kept his head down and concentrated on FL and cementing his legacy as the best Gov in the history of any state.

If there is still stink on Trump and MAGA like what these midterms have shown, then that is perfect for Ron to swoop in and get the nom over Rubio or Vance since they will not be able to distance themselves as he has.

I also noticed he has done more to come off as more personable and has regular genuine chats with people on X about sports and other topics.

He’s the GOAT. I and many others on this board got shite for supporting him in 2024 instead of Trump.

I know he is disliked here but DeSantis is the only Republican politician I've ever seen in my life to actually go on the offensive and win against Dems. As opposed to most Reps who either do nothing or try but fail to hold back a rising tide.

He is the best. We would be in so much better of a situation if he was President.

Nah Ron can’t win the Nom. Just not a good enough campaigner. Democrats will go wild the next 2 years and the American people will swing back Republican. Vance is the populist working class blue collar candidate. He will top the ticket. Then I’d love Desantis as VP with his executive experience and success in Florida.

Desantis didnt even win Florida in his primary. He got 3rd place..

Desantis runs on old culture war issues. Voters do not care about that as much as the terminally online Twitter thinks they do. And even less in 2026 than they did 2022

Trump didnt even bother debating him once.

He has a repulsive personality to anybody outside of the Florida electorate, which is significantly older than most of the US. how is that going to play out in 2028?

Elon and tech backed Desantis until it was clear that Trump was winning. So he already failed once.

Desantis 2028 coalition cant bring in the Gen Z, female, minority vote that he needs to win.

Dumbass Republicans had the chance to put him in the White House in 2024 but gave Trump a second shot at failure instead.

Ron did what he did for FL, and that's fine.

But he's not growing any taller, and his platform shoes aren't getting any shorter.

He's not working his way back into the national level. See Ted Cruz, see Jeb Bush, see a dozen other would be challengers who fade into the night to never been heard from again.

Ron is a great administrator but sucks at campaigning. Too bad because that dude killed it in Florida.

As popular as Desantis is and was then why was both races so damn close
Donald’s won by only 100,000 votes out of 8 million

I doubt he'll run in 2028. He sees the writing on the wall that 2028 will be just like 2008, in that whoever the nominee is will end up being a sacrificial lamb like McCain. He'll probably let Vance be the sacrificial lamb.

DeSantis' time was in 2024, and unfortunately the vast majority of GOP primary voters and caucus goers (cough MAGA) are retarded. We could've had 2 terms of DeSantis and instead they chose 4 years of Trump, with a Wipeout coming in 2026, and 8 years of Newsom, Ossoff, or some other crackpot.

What hurt Ron in the 2024 Primary was that he went away from everything that made him a kick arse Governor.

He went all milquetoast and lost his edge. I hope he fired whoever his advisors were.

Which is fine, because no Republican is winning in 2028 unless things make a complete u-turn from the current state of things.

He's disliked by the MAGA RINO populists, who are essentially leftists. Conservatives like him.
