Been following this issue as frequently as I could. Elated to hear the chatter that the backseater was picked up and hope it’s accurate.
That said, I’ve wondered the whole time about the distance the pilot and WSO were apart when they ejected and ultimately landed. A hundred things could have happened that would have prevented them from linking up, and maybe it’s procedure not to. Anyone have any insight on why the pilot seemed to have been picked up quickly while the WSO wasn’t? If this has been discussed, point me to the page.

They probably were doing a head fake to another area today so they wouldn't have to deal with as many in the real LZ.

Wasn’t Garand Thumb Air Force special operations? I’m sure that will trigger someone. I’m not a huge follower but some of his stuff isn’t terrible

That can easily happen even if they aren’t too far apart. One comes down in a spot with more cover and isn’t getting as much attention and the other one is closer to a village or has less cover and concealment or the Iranians just happen to be searching closer to him by chance

Im sure it is. If Iran had him they wouldnt be able to get it on the internet fast enough.

Tomcat crew in gulf war that got hit with a Sam ended up 4.5 miles apart one was fetched pretty quick the other not so much. Same for some intruder crews

Just talked to my son who is stationed in Saudi and they did get the other pilot. He's safe.
