Apparently they just laid to waste a lot of IRGC guys to get him out.

Fricking AirTag them for goodness sake

Lamo!! A random goofball on an internet message board has all the answers as if military professionals that put their lives on the line and train thier entire careers haven't thought of ANYTHING the internet message board goofball has considered!

Make it make sense.

I would not want to be headed out to pick a fight with the PJs, especially not over there. Theres probably enough firepower overhead those guys to level the entire country.

Hope everyone's home safe by now

Missile strikes hit a nearby IRIG broadcast tower and their air support came under fire by IRGC, Basij, and nomad fighters. It sounds like they have certainly located him. Those things are being reported from sources inside Iran, including IRGC linked outlets. The stuff that isn't confirmed still is that they've extracted him, but several sources are claiming they have.

Hopefully reports are true and he’s been rescued alive.

Given that, when was the last time the wizzo has a lot better story than the pilot? Guy was running around behind enemy lines for what like 36 hours? The pilot was down for just a couple hours

Pilot also has the honor of being the first eagle driver shot down by an enemy, ever (i think)

Eta: nevermind, this is the 3rd Strike Eagle ever shot down. Two were shot down by ground fire in the gulf war. No single seater has ever been lost to enemy action

Oh well.

That's what they're saying. This guy is a former green beret.

That is a ton of targets (if they really were going after downed US flight crew) for a couple A10s or a C130 Ghostrider (formerly Spectre and Spooky) to just circle and destroy a lot of stuff.

My guess is they had him move to a more extraction friendly area(if he could).

Two were shot down in Iraq during Desert Storm. At least one crew became POW if im not mistaken.

I was thinking the same. Doesn’t seem very bright with the options the US has to target them

Is it common for WSOs to be former ground guys?

Can the Darwin Award be split amongst multiple nominees? These idiots will make the Desert Storm “Highway of Death” look like a picnic.

The 104-0 record is the air to air kill ratio.

I can think of 2 movies off the top of my head about pilots being downed behind enemy lines. I think one was called Behind Enemy Lines and the other was Bat 21. This guy may inspire kids to want to be a Weapons System Officer instead of a pilot after his movie comes out. I can’t imagine Hollywood would not jump all over his story and make a movie out of it after his ordeal.
