Are beer and wine not sold in the grocery stores you patronize?

I went to Florida this past week and had to show my ID for everything we bought.
Maybe most places require ID if you are from out of state? I don't know I'm guessing.

I know many black people. Stone of them are poor.

ALL of them have an official ID.

I was asked to show my ID at the Kennedy Center, Bush Gardens, and restaurants in Clear Water while on vacation. To say it could have been because I looked "sketch" would be a stupid assumption and might be more of an insight into your own self-worth. Financially I'm doing quite well and look the part.

You're lying if you say you've never had to show your ID. The other option is you've never traveled or your poor and never bought anything over, say, a grand with a debt card.

Where I live, if you use a debit card, you have to show an ID to prove the debit card is your name. Every place does this.

Judging from the responses so far this didn't go the way you thought it would.

I was in Florida last week as well, and I only showed it for booze.

I write on the back of every credit card "See ID" to make sure they check my ID and not only for alcohol.

lol...I have never shown my ID when making a purchase with my debit card. That is what the PIN is for.

Have people in this thread really never had to show I.D. with their credit card?

It seems a normal thing around here to prevent credit card theft.

Where do you live? I've never been asked for ID for a debit transaction. That's what a PIN is for.

I get id’d All the time when checking into hotels. Also many times using a credit card. May be store or hotel chain policy. Many FL places also, as well as TX.
More and more ask ID when using a credit card. Don’t use a debit card so can’t address that.

I just checked with my man servant and he confirms to me that he is not asked for ID when making purchases for me on my American Express Black card.

So you have to provide a Personal Identification Number (PIN), yet, you never need an ID.

OK. Your intelligence and education are revealing.

Not to mention/ask...did you have to provide an ID to obtain the account(s) the PIN is tied to?

Well I live in the USA and have never had to do that with a debit card. I am sure President Trump was talking about either buying alcohol with groceries or if you pay with a check, either way it’s the r-worded that people are trying to make this a gotcha moment.

VISA and MasterCard both prohibit stores from refusing a customer who presents a signed card. Doesn't matter if they have ID or not.

Yep, it’s in the merchant agreement for Visa and MasterCard. The merchant can ask for identification, but cannot refuse a sale (assuming card is signed) just because someone doesn’t show ID. And if the card isn’t signed, they aren’t supposed to accept it at all.

Always pisses me off in NOLA because they ask for your ID every time. So it does happen, but it’s the exception not the rule.
