I used my debit card three times today on the way to work alone and never once had to show an ID.

I see Florida in your name next to a falcons logo. I've lived in Florida and Georgia, and nobody has ever checked my ID on a debit card. I've lived or work in almost half the States on the country, and that's never happened once for a debit.

That is entirely correct, the left won't simply allow Trump to make a mistake, no matter how small, and so the right feels compelled to defend even a small and insignificant mistake.

This isn't like the issue of "you can't require ID to vote because that's racist, but it's okay to require an ID to buy a gun, that isn't racist" argument.

I doubt Trump even has a debit card, much less has used one in the last 10 years. His statement was just a metaphor based on the old use of credit cards which say right on them "must present ID when using"

If you don't sign the back of your card and you hand it to the cashier, they are required to validate the name against an ID. Debit cards usually don't get handed over.
