We need to cut spending. We need to cut debt. We need to eliminate the deficit and balance the budget. The path we’re on is not sustainable.
Spending money to save money reduces spending. We spend $150-300b on illegals a year. Wouldn't spending $50b one time to reduce it even 10-20% be worth it?
We're not going to keep illegals out of schools or hospitals, so you have to be realistic. Spend money to reduce the numbers which saves you in the long run. Being principled doesn't mean you have common sense.

Paul shouldn't have mentioned it.
Trump not showing much class by doing it.
Not a good look for either of them.

There. I FIFY.

I figured there would be a reason why he wanted to cut the proposed amount.
From the link you sent me;
Seems to make total sense to me

“The wall, if you look at the [Customs and Border Protection (CBP)] website — until they removed it yesterday — they said it would cost $6.5 million per mile” to build the border wall, Paul said.
“If you add that up for about 1,000 miles that’s $6.5 billion. They asked for $46.5 billion, so they got a math problem,” he added. “Instead of addressing the math problem, CBP took that off their website two days ago.”

Trump tried the same thing in 2018 trading border security for amnesty. Is Trump open borders?
What are Trump's and Rand's opinions on immigration in 2025?
Does one seem to have more of an understanding of the dangers of immigration right now more than the other?

It's a picnic. They probably just didn't want Mr. Personality ruining the mood.

$6.5m a mile is a cheap bid, thats only $1200 per foot. You have to factor in they need to acquire a lot of the land from private owners, maintenance, and surveillance
I would rather give ICE what it requests this time around, then have to deal with this shite again next year once we find out it wasnt enough. Homan has a good track record of getting shite done.
There is a good chance we dont win the midterms, better to get ICE the resources needed now than be roadblocked

Yep, though it sounds like he might make up with Elon, but only because Elon realizes he is wrong and apologizing
Rand Paul is right and should not apologize
the spending is rediculous, we need Trump to beat that horn

The border wall isn't the only thing.

The White House barbecue. It was a crab boil the year I went. It's supposed to be non-partisan and apolitical.

So you’re saying Rand fricking Paul is a RINO? Hilarious

I stated this earlier about Massie in another thread. Just insert Paul's name for Massie's...
quote:
Massie is impeding the overall good by his refusing to stand behind the "good side". As someone mentioned, "this how politics is played ".
If Massies no longer wishes to play that game, he should resign.
While his "principled " stance may help his personal opinion of himself, it's a hindrance to Trump's efforts to change the direction of this nation.
Without a doubt, the BBB isn't what some of us wanted, but it's a start. It's a momentum builder setting a foundation for the next 3 bills under Trump, which will hopefully continue to make more substantial changes and bring us closer to a balanced budget. There's only so much that can done in one bill.

A year from now, Trumpflation will devaste the country and Rand will be able to take over the GOP.

So there is no end to crushing gov’t debt? What a shitty take.

Pelosi,Schumer, Schiff, and other democrat leaders are very vindictive. so go and blow some hot air somewhere's else.

Rand is the Bernie Sanders of the right.

I fine with Paul critiquing the BBB. Spending needs to be cut, and a few are trying to remind the GOP and Trump to cut spending. I don't see the problem with this.
We are close to the point of no return yet the GOP/Dems keep spending. It just seems if the Dems are deficit spending us Rep get bent out of shape and complain but when Trump and GOP do it, we get bent out of shape for republicans calling them out. It's only ok to deficit spend when it is our team doing it?
