The city voted for this nonsense, let them wallow in the result.
The quotes from the neighbors in the OP link are fantastic. Most of them likely voted for this and were fine with it until it showed up on their street.

I’m pulling numbers out of my arse but I bet that $330K property nets them $50K or less between legal costs tied to removing the squatters and all the renovations necessary once the property is vacant.

Under these circumstances, legal costs are a last ditch effort only when other methods aren’t working. A little moral flexibility usually goes a long way.

This owner has the right idea, he just needs some suggestions on how to do this.

Located approx 9 miles north of Silver Lakes on route 66 is this rare find of 2 homes on approx a 1 acre lot with plenty of mature trees and a well. One home is 2bdrms 1 ba all electric approx 1000 sf and the other is 3bd 1ba approx 1100 sf.
Home does need repairs. Drive by only, working on removing squatters.

Amazing. Communists find out communism isn't utopian like they thought.

The CFPB might have something to say about that

I've wondered how long it was going to take for the multiple foreclosures
to begin. Now when the problem gets bad enough for the banks to start squealing, we should see some different "ideas" about how this problem can be handled.

Sir Wnston lives in Portland. Looks like he has a nice place. I might just go live there.

Probably. City won't do shite but I guarantee you they want those property taxes paid and will take homeowners to court over it.

My thoughts also. Burn it down with the squatters in it after barricading them inside.

I just got 10 roadrunner cacti from my friendly SW Portland Trader Joe's and I'm planting them in my desert flower beds today mates

Local laws are designed to intensify the homeless/squatter situation. Elected officials in Deep Blue cities don’t view the crime, drug addiction and — most tellingly — the mental illness associated with the homeless population to be a community problem but a community asset.
Such rampant homelessness is a cash cow industry for the Welfare State: indeed, the bigger the homeless crisis, the bigger the allocations for budgets to address the crisis. More importantly, government sector social workers provide a reliable voting block that invariably supports all aspects of the progressive agenda, further empowering the Welfare State.

I read about an incident like this in Fort Worth. The squatters had only been in the house a few hours when the owner called the police. The squatters told the police they had a verbal agreement to occupy the premises (which the owner vigoursly disputed). The police told the owner he had to file a civil action to have them removed which could take a couple of years to accomplish.
