The reason modern feminism can even be a viable option for most women is because of the pill. Either that or they become celibate in order to reach their career goals.

Instead of banning things, let’s look at why people use them. Have you ever wondered why women take birth control and men use condoms? It’s because they don’t want kids. But why wouldn’t they want kids? 9 times out of 10, it’s because they cannot afford them.

Teens and college kids fear an unplanned pregnancy will derail their education, forcing them to choose between their studies, caring for a child, or working to provide money to stay alive (and likely only being capable of 1 at a time). Having to drop out of a lucrative major like engineering or medicine to take a low-skill job now to support a kid is really really devastating long term from an economic perspective.

The reason why young people are using contraceptives is because they cannot afford unplanned pregnancies. Children are so financially expensive and labor intensive to raise, that adults must wait longer and longer in life before they’re financially stable enough to afford to have them in a planned fashion.

Unplanned pregnancies, these days, are almost always an economic death sentence for anyone under 25 unless they have older relatives who will step in and significantly share in the financial or labor burden.

If you want to improve the birth rate, you need to make it easier for individuals to get jobs that pay enough for one income to support a wife and kids by age 25. Jobs, these days, don’t pay enough to keep up with increasing costs of living, require too much schooling, and take too long to get. This ends up all delaying the process by which men and women become financially stable and independent enough to plan (or at least stop planning not to) have children.
