Sure.
You can live in a 1300 square foot house, rent until you are in your late 30s while you save up to buy, stop with the unnecessary purchases, streaming services, eating out/ordering in, buy used cars cash, forget about ridiculous things like travel ball for your kids, limit vacations to every few years, etc., etc., etc.
Viola! Just as affordable as the 70s.
yeah, it's called survival mode and it sucks...especially if you don't have any parents left (or older generation) because they've all died and the ones that do remain live far away in places you can't get jobs

Sure they have.
It's real easy.
Do you want the government to collapse in about 25 years for gross failure to fund it? Led by SS/Medicare?
I think he poses a good question. When discussing population decline or stabilization - there is a near absolute focus on impacts to the SS and Medicare programs, but there's a shitload more economic manifestations to population decline or stabilization, and some are massive and positive. To truly answer his question, the complete picture would have to be considered.

Why do I give a shite if there’s less people in my country to enjoy it’s incredible but limited natural wealth

We should ban abortion and incentivize married couples to have children.

No, that's how my family and most every family we knew lived in the 70s.
We didn't think it sucked. We just thought it was life.

Which means that his statement that no one can answer his question is asinine.
I'll be happy to look at a list of pros if someone wants to post them, but the cons are well known.

What do you think this country looks like when there are a shite load of expensive, old and unproductive people and very very few young people who are innovating and producing?
The AI bots bringing granny dinner.

I’m ok with the population not growing

Chances of families like that even existing in the future given the culture change and lack of kids, etc. have diminished rapidly.
Good luck getting the culture back in line like the 70s

Sadly, I think the majority of birth rates from Americans are from white trash people and ghetto people. People who depend 100% on the government to take care of their kids.. so they will have 6+ kids with no worries.
Need to get the financially responsible people to let loose and have more kids. Those are the ones i wouldn't mind my tax dollars helping out if they have more kids and need assistance.

still don’t understand how a declining population is a problem. I’m open to suggestions, but nobody has ever been able to sufficiently explain why it’s a problem.
Traditionally it leads to stagnant economies as populations age and productivity declines along with consumption.
But with AI improving it might be preferable. AI will take many jobs, so productivity can remain high with smaller workforce. Which leads to higher wages for the jobs AI can’t do. Surplus of product made with lower overhead means competitive exports. More wealth in US divided among a smaller population so consumption will remain high with a very high quality of life

Yep. On top of that, re-teaching the people that marriage is about being fruitful and oriented toward God.

It's not a problem! As I watch more and more apartments being built around my area, I wish we would have more women on birth control, especially the ghetto trash that should be on mandatory birth control!!

you think birth control is the main reason for declining population growth?
bruh...

Oh, I don't care if culture goes back to that or not.
I just want the whiners to admit that it's the culture and their choices and not "affordability" that is the problem.

It is if you want SS and Medicare to survive and for the US to remain the largest and strongest economy in the world.
If you don't care about those things then it probably isn't.

You'll get down voted but you're absolutely right. The U.S. population was just under 250 million people in 1990. The current U.S. population is just under 350 million people. Never mind the illegal immigrant population of around 20 million.
That's 100 million people more than 36 years ago, that isn't even remotely sustainable.
I don't want significant population decline, but I vehemently reject this whole "the U.S. population must continue to grow" argument. We don't have the resources to keep growing.
Over the next 25 years I would like to see a small but significant population decrease. We need to get back to being around or just under 300 million people. You still have a massive and robust country at that point, but you aren't pushing everything (infrastructure, medical, social services, schools, logistics) to their breaking point like we are now.

Honestly, as long as we have a stable economy and good quality of life, I don't really care about having the largest and strongest economy in the world. Having that gets you where we are now.
Immigrants coming in here illegally by the millions during Biden. And it will happen again under the next Democrat President. It's cultural su*cide.
So if preserving our national culture and not importing the third world means not having the largest and strongest economy in the world, as long as it's still really good I'm okay with losing that title and you should be as well.
