Dismantled the police department. Crime is rampant. Infrastructure is at its worst in history. Cronyism to the Nth degree. Pandering for political gain. That’s just a start. I thought Mitch would be a great mayor. I was very wrong.

What???

It is utterly heartbreaking to watch New Orleans decline further and further towards 3rd world status. He could have made things better there. But he didn’t. Mitch Landrieu is emblematic of the Democrat Party.

Tear down a monument. Ignore the crime and poverty epidemic driving out industry, tourism and taxpayers (while you blame them for causing the aforesaid).

Landrieu's administration's incompetence literally allowed thousands in New Orleans to flood.

His primary opponents will drill him on that.

Then again, if he is the chosen one, neither CNN nor other candidates will ask him about it.

His admirers say Landrieu‘s background also gives him the advantage of being able to speak credibly to Trump voters.

What part of his background....his sister who got voted out of office for pushing Obama's unpopular policies and hasn't been heard from since? His alleged mistress that worked for the city? His douchey "proud to be a fricking Landrieu" son? His successes in stoking racial tension? Or his achievements in fixing the cities crumbling drainage and streets infrastructure?

Half Moon would be running a campaign based on racism and statue removal. I wish he'd get the Dem nomination because Trump would destroy him in the debates.

he accomplished NOTHING in New Orleans other than tearing down the Confederate Statues and pissing off a frick ton of people

He allowed the pumps to fall into a state of disrepair. This lead to flooding and a huge embarrassing cluster for the city of New Orleans.

And that does not even start on crime.

He doesn't have the charisma or the intellect of Obama. He isn't really black. He will be seen as a cis white male, which won't fly with the progressives that currently run the party.

Mitch Landrieu isn’t, for the moment, getting ready to run for president. But that’s not stopping the Democrat who led the rebuilding of New Orleans

Critical issues, 'failing' equipment continue to hinder New Orleans' drainage system, report finds

quote:

A team of consultants found that even after repairs on the Sewerage & Water Board’s drainage system were well underway late last year, problems continued to plague the system and to hinder the city's ability to push water out of low-lying areas.

quote:

The report found 170 critical problems with the drainage system at the end of November, including pumps that cannot move as much water as they are supposed to, clogged catch basins, drain lines and canals that slow the flow of water, and major deficiencies with nearly every electrical line tested.

He contrasted Trump’s record with his own experience leading a city devastated by Hurricane Katrina and wracked by years of mismanagement that’s now on the rise.

Yes, because he continued the bullshite mismanagement. Citizens of New Orleans are pissed about this, and other problems that have been plaguing the city for years. I hope this past flood was enough to show the dumbasses just how bad their politicians are.

Looks like it would be a great Dem primary, one wanting to be a minority; but isn't and one who is a minority, but doesn't want to admit it. Seems like we could find some catchy phrase for DNA testing.

What has Mitch actually accomplished? I'm genuinely curious.

Don't say the statue removal, because that (by all appearances) was purely a move to pander to voters.

Well, I think you do your best to let him win that Dem nomination and then you boys from NOLA get as vocal as you can about the shape the city really is in.

Notice none of Roy Moore's accusers came out until he was the GOP candidate in AL. There was PLENTY of time to come out while he was going against Luther Strange, but it made more sense to get him when all that opposed him was Jones.

If Mitch has no opposition aside from Trump, he's toast.

Trump 2020 would be in the bag

A statement like this indicates how faulty the thought processes of the Right really are.

I doubt if Trump will even be President in 2020; if the Democrats recapture Congress in 2018 (very likely) Trump will possibly be removed from office before then. Also, any Democrat, even a hard-left Bernie Sanders/ Elizabeth Warren type, has a built in advantage of 47% popular vote/ 220 EV from Likely U.S. voters.

A moderate, suave white Democrat like Mitch Landrieu has a further advantage in swing Midwestern states that Trump carried by only a couple % points (or less) in 2016. Nominate Mitch 2020: it's a no-brainer.

She's actually speaking at the LSU Law School on Wednesday next week. I'm looking forward to hearing about what she's been up to.

Very surprising that this is being discussed. Seems more like he could have went for governor if not for diaper Dave's untimely meltdown.
