Empathy for criminals has never backfired

I lost track of that thread somewhere along the way. How old is he, what were his crimes and what behaviors has he changed to keep himself from repeating them (especially not associating with folks who may have introduced, facilitated and/or reinforced his poor choices)?
He's very young. I think he's 22 or 23. His original charges were related to driving without a license. He said that when he was pulled over, 5 cops approached his vehicle with guns drawn, he got spooked and drove off. That's what made it a felony.

Neither has being an a-hole.

You're the only one who gets me around here

Well, you know I completely agree with you, right Stout? But then we've been having this conversation with our friend Cubbies for years. I limited my comments to Cubbies character and intentions-which IMHO, are lovely.

Unlike my previous statement, yours is hyperbole
I can't think of a single instance where showing a criminal empathy has backfired.

Yes…but not for the reason you think.
The most likely scenario is that he lets you down. I think there’s a high likelihood in that.

I got an email yesterday that there's a shortage in my escrow account because insurance went up again. BUT, Landry is working really hard to teach the City of New Orleans a lesson, so at least we have that going for us!
Landry really needs to negotiate with Insurance agencies to lower premiums elsewhere in the state. There’s no reason for the rest of the state to subsidize New Orleans. People in New Orleans should pay 2x or 3x.

quote:Congrats.
All the charges associated with his March arrest were dismissed. And he got his GED last week! So he should be able to get off paper and get a better job and finally get a driver's license.
When I told him the good news, he thanked me for never giving up on him.

Getting a GED at the age of college graduates.
Winner.

Fleeing a traffic stop is a felony. Something he is absolutely guilty of. Just because the state dropped the charges doesn’t magically make him innocent of what he did

Good deal.

Also a good deal.
They need to have their arrogance tempered.

Stopped here -- but I'm happy for you, or sorry that happened.

I do not care for your language, young lady.

Congrats.
Thank you, but all praise goes to him. He stuck with it despite working overnight and the March arrest. There were other obstacles that I won't go into here. He did his part, though. He stuck with it and studied when he could. I'm extremely proud of him.

It’s not empathy. That’s the lie.
It’s pride and narcissism.

What's the source of your frequent antagonistic posts toward me? Humility?

It's the moral currency among white women
At root, at the individual level, there are some things to admire. In the aggregate, it's a cultural extinction risk.
