Republicans have controlled the entire federal government for the last 2 years. This IS the beginning for the democrats. This is literally the first time they have control over anything since Trump was elected. A better question might be why republicans didn't want to fund the wall until it became impossible to do so?

Getting the wall built was going to be monumentally more difficult in 2019 than it has been for the past two years. That's a reality. Trump could have stood his ground for funding for two years, but he never tried.
Now he's decided to fight, which is fine, but the timing is idiotic given the last 2 years.

For extreme numbers, sure, but I've seen people say the wall is "only" $5B, as if that's a reason to do it.
Either border security is important or it isn't. The wall is a good idea or it isn't. If it's a good idea, I don't need to be persuaded by it "only" being $5B. If it's a bad idea, spending any amount of money on it is dumb.

Can’t believe nobody else is on board with getting the government running again for cents on the dollar with illegal labor. Think how much money we could save if everyone in DC was replaced with an illegal. Then we could afford the border for sure.

The Dems told him if he agreed to raising taxes (contradicting his "read my lips, no new taxes" pledge) they would be willing to negotiate budget cuts afterwards.
He did and they didn't.
