No, they actually did control the senate. They didn't have a filibuster-proof majority, but they don't need one. First of all they can just change the senate procedure rules with a simple majority to get around the 60-vote filibuster rule. More importantly it never even got to that point. They never even tried to fund the wall, which means there certainly was never any filibuster that needed to be busted. Are you really denying the obvious fact that republicans didn't want to fund the wall? You think it's just a coincidence that suddenly as democrats came to power they made their first attempts after doing nothing for 2 years?

Interesting. Trump doing his art of the deal. He knows the dems need to open the government to implement their agenda.

And the Art of the Deal Ghostwriter doesn't even think he read it either.

Dems can't be trusted.
Reagan trusted the Democrats in the 80's as well.
Course I don't care what he thought he had negotiated for, Reagan failed epicly by signing that Amnesty Bill regardless.
One of the big post '65 stepping stones to this current situation.

So just go Harry Reid, eh? No political ramifications for that? God you’re fricking dumb.

The cost is a drop in the bucket and they could have gotten DACA out of it and started to work on infrastructure.

Cant trust those rotten bastards. Keep it shut until they fund border security!

Gee if I was a professional poker player I would say they are playing a weak hand.

I believe Reagan fell for something similar to that...once.

Which is win win IMHO. It means they abandoned their jobs, so no Civil Service protection, and keeps them from increasing their retirement.

Reagan didn’t have the benefit of having watched a predecessor gal for it.

Honestly can't believe you want to argue that Republicans didn't have control of the senate and therefore couldn't even attempt to bring up funding for the wall. Really? So how on earth are they able to try now? What magically changed? The only thing that changed is now that democrats have control of the house they can be sure that if they propose funding for the wall it won't get passed, so they don't have to worry about that actually happening. Why don't republicans want the wall to actually be funded? Why do they just want to appear to want it?
Posted on 1/4/19 at 11:15 pm to BobBoucher
Pelosi and Schumer have spent the last few years absolutely refusing to have any real negotiations regarding the wall... but yeah, I'm sure that they'll do real negotiations in the future, after they've gotten what they want.
Pelosi and Schumer are retarded. Everyone knows that if trump caves and opens the gov...that Pelosi and Schumer will do the same shite next time also.

The worse it looks for Dems look for not wanting work with Trump..
Wait until tax refund time comes. There are no refunds while the gov't is shutdown. Low income people who get a refund, but do not pay any taxes will nearly revolt when their money gets halted. This is when Chuck and Nancy will feel the heat.
Trump will say, "i have been trying to get the dims to negotiate, but they chose to stay at home or on vacation. The dims do not want to negotiate, and want to keep the gov't shutdown."
After that he needs to say, I want $10 billion now.
A lot of these low income people vote for the dims, so they will want Nancy to do whatever Trump wants, "Just get us our money!!!!"
