On the subject of grocery prices

Of course it's easy to place all of the blame on the administration, but where is the outrage against the manufacturers and the distribution networks.
I spent 40 years in consumer goods and some major food companies. I can tell you that people would be shocked to know the actual floor cost of goods and the insane profits that companies are making since covid.
Example- next time you order Ice Tea in a 20oz glass with 1/2 ice for 3.25. The retailer only has 15-18 cents in it.
A fountain cola ? The finished costs out of the nozzle is 3-4 cents per ounce.
Greed is everywhere.

This has improved with the introduction of self serve fountain drinks in convenience stores and fast food.
But I’m hearing some fast food chains are getting rid of it.
Restaurant booze is the biggest profit item.

We are getting ripped off. WTI is currently $78 and change a barrel. Gas at my local Murphy station is 3.17 a gal. The last time WTI was $78 gas at that same station was .75 cents a gallon cheaper. Goes up like a rocket, falls like a feather.

How do those costs compare to 10 years ago?
And material costs aren't a basis for retail cost.
You don't go have a lawyer work up a contract and only pay him for the legal paper and ink.

The only way to correct this is to not let people live on enormous credit they can never pay back. Society would have to let people fail. Then people would curb their consumption and prices would fall.

I like the cup filled all the way with ice before the tea goes in. And you get free refills with tea (actually I think most places give free refills on all drinks now) so who gives a rip how much ice is in it?

Just a example that I used.
You would be shocked on the floor cost of a case of corn flakes verses retail price per unit.
Not dogging the retail store because their margins are very slim.
7 years ago a a 5 gallon box of Coke syrup for a fountain unit cost to a retailer was 70.00, now it is 169.00 on average.
One box makes 3840 finished ounces, depending on the retailer that's 3-4 cents per ounce now.
