He's too stupid to know that he's stupid.

When he signed the law last year, Obama issued a signing statement contending that the notification requirement was an unconstitutional infringement on his powers as commander in chief and that he therefore could override it.
Is that statement public record or just according to this administration source?

Why was there no bitching about a prisoner swap until this thread?

Again
The dude should be in impeached, thrown out of office, and thrown in prison. But, he has certain skin pigment so he can do whatever he wants.

Wouldn't the Defense Secretary, Chuck Hagel, be the one breaking the law

.....in the politically correct world we live in today.....this is so true.
If the day ever comes when commen sense is the order of the day ....American's will shake their collective heads and wonder..."what were we thinking?"

He should watch the news to see what he can or can not do.

Wonder how long before the next kidnapping...and swap offer, now that the precedent has been set?
And when I heard Obama (at the presser announcing the swap) say that "we never leave our own behind"....
I wonder what the SEAL on that roof in Benghazi would think.
God help us!

That SEAL was most likely getting in the way of something more important.

Laws do not matter to Obama and his ilk.
Hell, he even breaks the laws that have his name on them. Obamacare? Some people have to follow it, his pals don't.....
Some people pay the taxes for it, others don't....
Dozens of examples with that one alone.
As long as Obama is "winning", or making the political enemies of the progs hurt, that is all that matters to people like Layabout.

For a law to exist the breath of Obama must blown into its nostrils. Without the breath of Obama in its lungs a law shall shrivel and die away.

Happy for Bergdahl and his family but objectively this seems like a bad move setting a negative precedent.

He's the presidenti. He doesn't have to follow laws, just ask him.

So, he granted them a presidential pardon? You do realize there's a lot more to that action that just a nod or waive of a pen.
Where's the pretty piece of paper with Obama's original signature on it?

quote:That law would be dead on delivery if it was challenged to the USSC.
The law requires the defense secretary to notify relevant congressional committees at least 30 days before making any transfers of prisoners, to explain the reason and to provide assurances that those released would not be in a position to reengage in activities that could threaten the United States or its interests.
