Maybe so. Trump brings insane vitriol but be also motivates the base to insane levels.

Trump will garner every bit of his totals in 2020 plus more. The only folks that Trump will bring out to vote against are currently on DU and Daily Kos.

You say it’s BS, so which of Trump’s achievements were uniquely “MAGA”? Energy policy? Federalist Society endorsed judicial appointees? Garden variety pro growth tax and deregulation approaches? Balderdash! The one area in which Trump largely succeeded with a largely unorthodox approach was foreign policy. The ME agreements and repudiation of the awful Iran deal are things his administration accomplished that other GOP administrations might well not have.

Yours is a thoughtful take, and i dissent only as follows: Trump is incapable of following through any further because of his limited discipline and most importantly because so many Americans loathe him that he will have a hell of a time beating even Biden.

Of course Trump was responsible in large part for Dobbs but almost all GOP candidates would have nominated constitutionalist judges.

Trump will also be a lame duck the minute he gets in office. He is limited to a 4-year term and I just don't see anyone in DC willing to expend political capital on someone who is as toxic as he is and will not be there for a second term. He is literally at war with everyone. I really don't see how he can effectively govern and who would want to join his cabinet? He has to be able to work with these people to effect an agenda.

I am not convinced that Trump can beat Biden and $5 gas. The road to the White House still basically runs through purple-ish states like PA, MI, WI, and GA. Trump has to convince the same demographic he lost ground with in 2020 that he is the guy for the job....four years after being out of office. People just hate the guy even if they liked his policies.

DeSantis can win....Trump probably not.

Yeah I have no idea why you draw the level of insta-hate you do here, but its a reflection on how garbage the moderation of this particular board is

Practically any degree of pro Desantis talk and the legion of booger eating Trump ogres rush in to call someone “NeverTrump pussy” “cuck” “commie” blah blah

It’s a discredit to the overall site tbh. Total echo chamber

This is where we are at, putting America first in everything is considered toxic. Sad it was a good run but America as we established it is over, welcome to hell.

If I recall correctly the OP literally had to be on meds because Trump gave him panic attacks or something similar. He could probably start a lot of different topics and not get a warning. Not saying I agree with it, but he's a bit "special" when it comes to Trump, as in he needs Nurse Ratched and her meds special.

I left out immigration and trade because they were positions Trump took but not policy accomplishments. The wall was never the built and trade was a very mixed bag I which the president picked some winners (eg steel) but likely did more harm than good to other manufacturers. He did take a harder line with China but the effects of doing so we’re unclear. Note that I’m not criticizing Trump for not achieving his goals in these areas but I don’t think you can say he accomplished what he set to do I’m immigration and trade, for whatever reason.

3 years ago you only knew Desantis as a guy that barely beat a guy under federal investigation...

So I'll take the Desantis now ( for 8) and believe that the new attitude that Trump and Desantis have will bring new candidates behind them... And we will be set for 16
