Same poll that has Biden at 60% disapproval

quote:

As Donald J. Trump weighs whether to open an unusually early White House campaign, a New York Times/Siena College poll shows that his post-presidential quest to consolidate his support within the Republican Party has instead left him weakened, with nearly half the party’s primary voters seeking someone different for president in 2024 and a significant number vowing to abandon him if he wins the nomination.

quote:

Trump 49
DeSantis 25
Cruz 7
Pence 6
Haley 6

quote:

Remarkable educational divide among *Republicans*:

College grads prefer DeSantis over Trump, 32-28%.

Non-col grads prefer Trump 58-21%.

quote:

“While Mr. Trump has described election integrity as the country’s most pressing concern, just 3 percent of Republicans named it as the nation’s top problem.”

Many of you are going to come into this thread and say “hurr durr, he up 24 points hurr durr”, but basically the poll shows Trump 49%, non trump 51%

That 49% is a hard ceiling according to the poll….and that is with universal name recognition

LINK

Also….a former president being at 49% in a primary is remarkably weak

quote:

Mr. Trump’s conduct on Jan. 6, 2021, appears to have contributed to the decline in his standing, including among a small but important segment of Republicans who could form the base of his opposition in a potential primary contest. While 75 percent of primary voters said Mr. Trump was “just exercising his right to contest the election,” nearly one in five said he “went so far that he threatened American democracy.”

quote:

A growing anyone-but-Trump vote inside the party contributed to Mr. Trump’s deficit, with 16 percent of Republicans saying that if he were the nominee they would support Mr. Biden, would back a third-party candidate, wouldn’t vote at all or remained unsure what they would do. That compared to 8 percent of Democrats who said they would similarly abandon Mr. Biden in a matchup with Mr. Trump.

For Mr. Trump, bleeding that amount of Republican support would represent a sharp increase compared with the already troubling level of the party’s vote he shed during his last race.

This twat said he/she would only post about elections, but it’s always about trump. Always. Even the elections. Only posts them when trump backs a candidate that loses.

This is some next level obsession. This clown has to be funded by the Lincoln Project or something

Your dad must be so embarrassed of your limp wrist behavior. That is if you even know who your dad is, it doesn’t appear you had a masculine influence in your life

My personal take
In the primary Desantis
But if my general election choices are
Trump vs (D). ... Then that oval on the ballot goes to Trump 100%

How does one know this? How many former presidents have been polled when running for a second non-consecutive term?

There were always "anyone but Trump" issues im 2016. This really isn't anything new.

Because DeSantis has proven himself to be a leader, Trump hasn't.

He's got some good points, leadership is his weakness.

12 years is greater than 8 or 4. Why is this so hard?

So 12% polled are squishes that give in to peer pressure because they don’t want to be “one of those Republicans,” 7% want somebody more conservative and the rest are split between a vengeance tour and more well spoken version of the Orange Man. Shocking news Republican voters don’t think the same.

And anyone with even a few brain cells prefers either over Biden or anything the dems have to offer.

I prefer Desantis to Trump. I would be in the 25% category for Desantis. If Trump is the nominee I will vote for him without hesitation. You might as well add Desantis's 25% to Trump's 49 because anybody for Desantis pretty much sees him as the polished version of Trump. The vast majority of Desantis supporters would vote for Trump.
