I have a N.O. story -- I told some N.O. natives several years ago that Latoya Cantrell is incompetent.
I said nothing else....no jokes, no cursing or other derogatory statements from me.
I basically got cussed out and told F you, etc.
You cannot question Dems from N.O. on even the most basic things. If the city finances go to shite, it's because Teedy got hamstrung by other folks.
Flooding issues: Teedy couldn't catch a break with the weather.

New Orleans is far from perfect, but that's part of our charm...probably.

He’s partially right. New Orleans is a self containing economy that has lost quite a bit of tangible economic influence within the broader state discussion. Jeff parish isn’t New Orleans in this discussion.. they are separate at this point from an economic standpoint and they rely on each other but the days of New Orleans being the overwhelming force behind state economic development are gone and the city has to change quite a bit to get that distinction back

Orleans Parish is still stuck in the past with how much power they THINK they wield over the state.
In 1960, Orleans Parish population was around 627,000 while the state's total was around 3.2M. Orleans Parish had almost 20% of the population.
In 2000, Orleans Parish had dropped to around 485,000 while the state grew to 4.47 million. 23% loss of population in the city and they now only made up around 11% of the state population.
Today, Orleans Parish has about 362,000 people and the state has about 4.62 million. Orleans Parish is now under 8% of the total state.
Jefferson and EBR have already passed Orleans in population. St Tammany is going to pass them within the next few years and Lafayette Parish isn't far behind St Tammany. Orleans Parish is stuck a few decades in the past with how much sway they think they should have in state government and they're just mad that Landry is putting them in their place.

so basically a tourist trap. you need to understand something jethro 700k people live in the suburbs of new orleans as opposed to 300k people who actually live in that festering asswhole of a city. you're hanging on to your nfl franchise by a very thin thread.

What did these folks look like? Most of my crowd would agree with you wholeheartedly. I could tell from the beginning and voted for others. One problem with New Orleans is the dearth of a middle class.
