Well, I haven't lived in LA since early 2006. I am not at all familiar with any of this. I will however say, be prepared. Attitudes of politicians will mirror that of Pres Trump moving forward. It really isn't any different than partisan politics we see across the globe.
Now to the meat of the post, I believe alienating the state's largest population center is not the best thing to do, but everything seems so corrupt down there. We all know the NOLA gov is corrupt and we all know the state gov is corrupt. Who's really to blame here? Is taking a side showing my bias? I think I chose not to side with anyone. I think I can say both sides need to "simmer down now".
Maybe I am just feeling milquetoasty today!

I would argue that the growth in Lake Charles from LNG boom currently makes LC as important to LA as NOLA and that's in a city with 1/4th the population
If not for the hurricanes a few years back, LC would be leading in population growth too while people flee NOLA

The only people alienated are corrupt NOLA politicians. This has nothing to do with the population. In fact, they prob don’t even know or understand wtf is going on.

What is wrong with what Landry said? Does New Orleans not need to get it's fiscal house in order? Should New Orleans be treated differently than other parishes? You can bitch and whine all you want about Landry, but nothing he said was wrong. New Orleans, and Moreno, thought they had more power than they do, when they decided to indict the Attorney General. They are in the find out stage and it's pretty funny watching the squirming and backpeddling happening over there.
Fun Fact: Did you know that New Orleans has had a Democrat mayor since 1872?

let me help you understand something jethrine, that's like saying dallas is still vital to DFW and it is not, new orleans like dallas is dying.
it hit peak population in 1960 at 627k since then moron it's halfed it's self.
today the majority of new orleans lives out side of the city in the suburbs of new orleans, so the majority of tax dollars that come from that area of Louisiana come from the white inhabited suburbs of new orleans and not the minority schithole that has become new orleans.

New Orleans is a shithole and their politicians have been robbing Louisiana tax payers blind.
Louisiana would be much better off without Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

When emotion gets in the way (as it does for the OP), you can manage to forget something monumental just a week ago that shows the city "declaring war" in a much clearer fashion.

What makes Orleans Parish any different than the rest of the parishes?
Besides, that tax revenue comes largely from the port and would be there regardless of NOLA. If NOLA failed and/or was wiped out by a hurricane, the port would be back in operation no matter what.
