The US should never negotiate with terrorists period. It was a black mark on Trump’s 1st term that he negotiated with the Taliban. Now negotiating with Iran?

You don’t win wars with negotiating. Or blockades. Or economic sanctions. You win them by killing the enemy. Scorched earth.

Let Israel do the job that Trump is too TACO to do. Trump’s only interests is big money corporate stock market folk. When real shite needs to get done, step aside and let Israel do it.

Trump needs to do a show of force over Isreal and give them a few strays and with a warning. I can't stand all those frickers and their shitty culture.

Trump needs to unconditionally back Israel as they are our greatest ally in the Middle East.

Over the past 24 hours, Zamir spoke at least twice with CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper and with his senior officers, ahead of the possibility of renewed escalation against Iran.
It is unlikely that Israel launched a strike without American consent – even a partial one. The assessment, therefore, is that Netanyahu convinced Trump that not striking would hand Iran an advantage and could even harden its positions in negotiations with the US.
quote:

And following the Zamir-Cooper talks, the Israeli strikes were fully coordinated with CENTCOM, even if the Americans did not strike themselves.
The same applies to the defensive dimension – warning data on the launches from Iran came from the Americans, even though Israel carried out all the intercepts on its own.

Israel can’t win this war without the US and they know it. Hell even with us it won’t be some quick war which is why ever getting involved in it was stupid.

Yup. And it sure seems like we thought it would be. Now we are in it with no good off ramp. Escalate our involvement that will cost American lives and billions of dollars or try and wait them out and deal with higher energy prices potentially all the way to the midterms.

Iran sees an opportunity to drive a wedge between the US and Israel.

I’ve 100% supported and understood everything Trump has done up until now.

This makes no sense to me.
Here's the situation:

The USA would like to have negotiations with Iran that actually lead somewhere because this war isn't turning out for our best interests.

Iran doesn't want to hold negotiations before they can be sure that Hezbollah will survive this war as a credible threat to Israel. They want us to pressure Israel into stop attacking on the second front of the war in Lebanon.

Israel doesn't want to do that. They want to continue their efforts in Lebanon until the power of Hezbollah is totally broken, and it's easy to see why. Hezbollah is the weakest they've been in a very long time, and this is a unique chance for Israel to take a terror group dedicated to their destruction off the board. I'd be doing the same thing in their shoes.

In theory, the USA could go to Israel and say "Hey, we want out of this war. Stop the fighting in Lebanon or else we'll stop supporting you in a meaningful way." The problems with that are that the war is generally very popular with the Israeli public, it's turning out very well for Israeli forces in Lebanon, and the Israelis know that many American politicians and voters put a high priority on supporting Israel and don't want us to limit their efforts.

In other words, Trump lacks effective leverage to rein in Israel, which is a precondition for the start of real talks with Iran. This is probably all going to drag on for quite a while and yes, Trump has lost control of the situation.

So we get to pretend that Israel doesn't have nuclear weapons while imagining how awful it would be if another nation would hope to achieve the same security.

One of the greatest delusions from this whole affair is Americans thinking Iran getting nukes would just be fine and dandy. A terrorist regime with a nuclear weapon is not just doing it for "security."

It's insane how many people are OK with muslim zealots have a nuke as if it would be no big deal. I've even seen some of the people say that Iran nuking Israel would have zero impact on the US.

They cry about the current economic impact of the conflict, but then turn around and pretend there would be no global economic disruptions to a nuke being detonated over Israel. Of course, Israel's natural retaliatory response is never considered, either.

A lot of people are ignoring reality. They think if we just mind our own business and let the death cult obtain a nuke, then the world will just continue in harmony with absolutely zero adverse effects. It's an insane and ignorant belief.
