I’d suggest he’s changed his position, and that is the root cause of the issue.

If Trump tells Iran they have no control over another sovereign nation (Lebanon) - which should be the case - it frees Isreal to eliminate Hezbollah and allows US to focus pressure on Iran.

Instead, Trump is throwing Hezbollah a lifeline. That’s the part I don’t get. It perpetuates what he originally set out to eliminate.

When you throw a terrorist organization a lifeline, you look like you are negotiating from a position of weakness.

The time has passed for negotiations, fire up the bombers or appear to be led around by the nose by Iran like so many presidents before.

That motherfricker knew anything to do with oil and production was off limits, but he did it anyway.

Then Levin wasted no time saying it was within Israel’s right.

I get the feeling that Trump and possibly also Netanyahu thought this would be another Venezuela situation. We strike the Iranian leadership, kill them all, possibly free Ahmadinejad to elevate him as the new leader, and it's over in 24 hours. That would also explain why we didn't have a better plan to stop Iran from closing the strait, which is what everyone has known for forty-five years would be their first response to a serious attack.

Things are actually working out really well for Israel. They've hammered Hamas and Hezbollah, they control more of Lebanon than ever before, and Iran's conventional weapons have been degraded. If I was them, I'd be doing the same thing, just keep going in Lebanon and tell the Americans "Oh, we're just responding to attacks on our own forces." Iran is more America's problem than Israel's at the moment.

This is pretty much where I’ve been the past several weeks.

DJT either thought or was convinced we’d hit them hard, take out a couple of levels of leadership and the Islamic Republic’s government would fall within relative quick order.

That did not happen and DJT has been looking and looking and looking more for an exit ramp and “a deal” ever since.

If Trump is a dad, then he's the kind of dad who thinks he's a good disceplinarian because he yells at his kids to settle down every five minutes.
