Sanders' attitude is a perfect example of the hubris infesting the US govt. He's patronizing to the point of open insult, and he doesn't care if the commoners recognize his disdain for their opinions. "Campaign work"? What are you campaigning for, Senator? Aren't you senator of Vermont? Why are you flying private jets around the US and the world? Who's paying for all this?
"Five rallies in a week. The only way I can get around to talk to 30,000 people." What about zoom calls, senator? The private sector does it all the time. Or youtube videos? You could speak to an unlimited number of people in a week. Or send out a letter. But even if you did absolutely need to say something so private and important that it had to be face to face, commercial airlines have flights everyday. So, yes, wait in line at the airport like your subjects. Lead by example, instead of being the face of "climate change" due to greedy consumption of way more than your fair share of energy.
This is the US Congress in a nutshell. Self-serving, greedy careerism and big dark money funding for their lavish lifestyle. No apologies because none are owed to their subjects.

He is 100% right about campaign travel You can’t campaign nationally taking commercial jets. However, does he use private jets for personal use? And what about his multiple homes? And how did he get so wealthy, anyway?

The funniest part of all of that, is that the Heritage foundation is the highest paying/best benefit internship in DC for those types. Or at least they were a decade ago

Why can’t you travel commercial to speaking events? These events often have a set in stone and months in advance. You can get hotels if you are like it’s a late event.
Also the only person that really needs private flight for campaign stuff is a president and the VP.
If you are a senator I think you can drive to your stops in state.
