You can make an educated approximation with the help of some strategic FOIA puzzle piece collecting and analysis. Or just go ask any of the Benedict Generals that love talking about themselves.
My point was not that someone couldn't develop a probabilistic model and think there was a "likely" explanation, it's that the poster I replied to was far to certain of things without allowing the possibility of other, reasonably likely, options.

Fake news
Here we are! The cult default response to anything considered potentially negative.
Really? This is the the issue and hill you want to die on? That the U.S., the worlds most financed and largest military, more weapons and artillery than any military on earth, a nation that hasn't flinched in multiple 10 and 20+ year drawn out full-scale military conflicts over several decades, is tapped out after several weeks of strategic bombing in Iran with no full-scale offensive or troops on the ground? Do you realize how absolutely retarded you are to believe that?
The cult is YOU. The nerds who take every negative news story about Trump and this administration as gospel, and cry daily, for years now, about every little thing he says or does? Keep crying. It's funny.

Is it possible that the truth regarding this is somewhere in the middle?
Yes... of course... It's me who's obsessed with the JOOs. Sure, man.
Again. If you believe the premise of the OP, you have scorching stage 4 TDS and/or you are a propagandized sheep. Keep watching mainstream news tho, they would never be biased or lie to you.

How can you say the armory inventory is low when that information is extremely classified?
In other words, they don't know shite and are regurgitating the same nonsense they tried a few weeks ago. All because some commander made the comment that the "ship inventories" were low. Which usually happens after a sustained bombardment for several weeks. When the ship's magazine gets low to a certain point, the ship has to pull back and resupply.
I'm willing to bet that we have enough munitions on hand to fight a years long campaign against one of the super powers.
The media knows nothing more than you and I when it comes to weapon supplies. That's something that is a closely guard secret that few know the true numbers.

For thinking it could or might be true? Nowhere have I said it is true.
Thinking the actual truth could be somewhere in the middle is not a 'TDS' type response. Its a sane rational one.

The air defense campaign has been largely successful with high—though not perfect—interception rates. While some Iranian attacks got past defenses, causing causalities and extensive base damage, these attacks have been unable to diminish U.S. and coalition operations. This has required extensive use of interceptors, with Patriot inventories now under 1,000 and THAAD inventories at about 250.
Diminished stockpiles may force the United States and its coalition partners to take more risks with interceptions. There are no good alternatives to Patriot and THAAD for ballistic missile defense. Navy ships, with Standard Missiles that can intercept such threats, generally are too far away.
Expended munitions create a near- to medium-term risk for U.S. readiness to fight a war against China in the western Pacific. The Trump administration’s munitions request of $95 billion in the FY 2027 defense budget and $21 billion in the war supplemental reflects this urgency.

BS.
Not one of the liberal press has access to any defense contractor. Not one of then haunts the government warehouses, shipping munitions to bases for shipment.
Not one of them knows what’s being shipped on military cargo flights.
But they can scream false information all day.
