Zohran Mamdani has been mayor for 231 days and this, if manifested, and without hyperbole, will be the most radical act of his tenure by a long shot.

Please allow me to break this down:

He is about to spend 70 million tax dollars on 5 government run grocery stores (notwithstanding Aldi' making clear they could open 5 stores for a fraction of that).

Those five stores, run as they will be on tax dollars every single month no matter how full or empty their aisles will be, will be able to operate at a loss in perpetuity, and offer groceries for 30% less than their competitors.

But because no private grocer could possibly compete with a government competitor undercutting them by 30%, they will all inevitably all go bankrupt.

Mamdani's solution to prevent their bankruptcy? Give those private grocers tax dollars for them to compete and thereby make up for the 30% shortfall that...HE CREATED.

Succinctly: the government spends tax dollars to create an insanely bad problem. Then, to solve the problem that THEY CREATED, the government spends more tax dollars.

Utterly insane.

He's going to rob Peter to pay Paul and rob Bob to pay to Peter and then beg (uncle) Sam to save his sorry arse.

At the end of this, MY south carolina arse is going to be psying for Manuel's and Abib's groceries.

Are the people of New York now realizing the mistake they've made, or are they in denial?

Who even ARE "the people of New York"?

Are they fellow citizens? Fresh immigrants? Illegals? Usurpers?

Are there many Americans in NYC? I honestly don't know.

A consistent trait among these new wave leftists/socialist/communists is a steadfast refusal to admit that they have made a mistake. It's a complete lack of integrity and self-evaluation. They will carry it to their absolute destruction before saying they were wrong.

Most New Yorkers are too stupid to know what is happening.

This applies to just about every “problem” faced by modern society.

Their logic is simple:
The purporse of the govt is to help people.
The govt stores help people with low cost food.
The govt then helps private stores hurt by this, giving them money to keep in business.
It makes perfect sense. All it requires is raising taxes on the filthy rich so the govt can keep giving money to those in need.

The title on this thread is inaccurate.

Here is a correct and accurate title:

Mamdani may give other people's money to private groceries he destroys by opening city groceries

So by creating 5 government owned grocery stores, he subsequently will then turn all near by grocery stores into government subsidized stores. Communists play the long game.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul will provide them enough ignorance to say "see! It works" without questioning how it works.

This man. A man with literally no background in the private sector. A man who has no idea how to manage anything, is the mayor of New York.

And he wants to city fund grocery stores, then subsidize the existing ones…

Good luck, Big Apple.

Denial? This is the part where they reliably double down. Watch for state-run gas stations, etc.
