It's wild how different this thread is from the to OT
Posters in that thread saying "reports" of 100+ casualty

When’s the last time you heard a news report about military ordinance, dolphining or porpoising?
If I were to be stupid enough to put a high pressure well on or next to any place live rounds were being fired, I would not be stupid enough to leave it unprotected from anything ever fired on the range. No engineer or planner or retard with an IQ above 70 would do this. I call bullshite. It's a cover story.

Once we put transmitters on those guys, i knew they would get revenge. And Canadian waters has some of the largest groups of Dolphins.

Carney just gave a briefing and said "Four confirmed dead who have had their next if kin notified." Also said that "dozens more were injured/wounded". The current media reports are 7 dead. I guess they could have a policy of not officially announcing the figure until next of kin can be notified.
They're supposed to have a briefing sometime this afternoon from those on the ground who are leading the response and incident investigation.

why would they be doing live fire training on a day with 60 mph winds?????
Maybe they felt it was a good idea to practice live fire training on a day with 60 mph winds?
Maybe they felt that before they were faced with having to fire live rounds in an actual combat situation in 60 mile an hour winds then maybe they should practice it first.

Is is true this incident occurred 41-hours before the Alberta independence referendum vote?

They need common sense military control. There’s no reason for a pissant country like Canada to have a military.

Per the press conference that just happened:
- 4 confirmed fatalities
- 30+ (I didn't catch the exact number) are being treated at various hospitals
- 19 of those patients are in critical condition
- There were multiple training missions going on simultaneously
- A grass fire was ignited during normal training operations
- That fire began to spread quickly under very high winds crossing multiple firebreaks and made its way to land outside of the base
- The fire quickly spread to the artillery training command area where many of the injuries occurred
- No large gas-related explosions or explosions related to outside interference (sounds like ammo related explosions could still be possible)
- The cause of the fire is still under investigation
- All people are accounted for and hospitals have returned to normal operations from their "Level Orange" mass casualty protocol
- The four killed include three privates and one sergeant
