What kind of idiot runs gas lines and wells on a gunnery range ? From initial reports it sounded like an explosion dealing with weapons storage, but if the gas story is true, that's pure lunacy.

Honestly if you told me this happened to a military force during a live fire exercise and asked to guess which military force I would have likely guessed Canada or some random Eastern European nation

Doesn’t sound like it. Faulty HE round dolphined and his a high pressure natural gas well. This would cause a massive explosion.
