Perhaps too late for 2026, but definitely in play in 2028. After all, the proposed gerrymandering is not about race, but party affiliation. Good luck GOP handling the 5th column in your ranks. More than sure most will select the best possible GOP candidate for the general election.

Seems pretty dumb because in most states it would lock them into a Republican ballot. I highly doubt they plan on doing this.

I remember for Dekalb County in the early 2000's, conservative voters (what little there were there) voted in the Democrat Primary (hell, Republicans had no chance in that county anyways) and sunk Cynthia McKinney.

There is no point in voting Democrat in Alabama. None. I have pulled a GOP in every primary since I started voting at 18.
I wouldn’t call myself a republican (nor a Democrat for that matter) but I know where the action is at for deciding who holds positions in this state.
I’d freely admit that people like me probably do moderate the AL GOP a bit but that is a good thing. Keep the car between the lines not nose diving towards either pole.

Wouldn't it be easier and better for the country, if the dems would just come up with some good policies instead of trying to gaslight everyone. I suspect if that would happen, a lot of republicans would go back.
That being said, I wish there was a strong push for a moderate party. I think about 75% of the voters consider themselves close to center. Yeah you may feel very strong on a particular issue or several issues, but you can't get tunnel vision. You have to focus on the whole picture and what's best for the country. And that takes compromise and no one is willing to try that anymore, especially our so-called leaders. It amazes me how they are cock-blocking the voter ID bill. And no one is trying to remove that piece of crap Thune. He has been blocking Trump every chance he gets. That is a good enough reason right there to start a moderate party. Frick them rinos.
