The memes from today are going to be great.

This diverse female CNN panel picking apart Kyle using vocabulary not normally associated with an 18 year old kid
Frick these counts .
Yeah he’s rehearsed and game planned , he’s in trial for his life .

I had the opposite thought. Hollow points are commonly called "self defense rounds". So if you're going there to defend yourself, why didn't use self defense rounds?
Because it really doesn't matter. Just something for (us) gun enthusiasts and idiotic District Attorneys to argue over.

kyle chose FMJ because that is what was in the box![]()
Kyle's composure makes you forget he was 17 when this happened. He was a kid who put whatever they had in the gun because it would shoot coke cans.

It seems that the prosecutor is trying to say that Ritt was putting more people in danger b/c FMJ is more likely to pass through the target.
This was my takeaway before the judge called a stop. It shows how ignorant the prosecution is to firearms. Back at the time of the event, most people with ARs didnt have much choice in ammo with supply being so low. Kyle probably didnt even have a choice. FMJ was likely what they had and that was all there was to it.

Wish KR had loaded with hollow points just for that reason.
Ehhh I disagree here. Then they would just argue it was pre-meditated and that he was going there with the intention of killing someone.
This is basic court/law shite. They will try to twist facts in what ever way to get a guilty verdict. Got to remember they are not worried about "the truth" they are worried about "their truth". They just want that conviction %.

So if this trial is a farce and the judge knows it's a farce, why doesn't he dismiss it? Like right now.

good thing he didnt have XM855 loaded, or the prosecution would have sworn he was going to shoot holes thru the armored vehicles....pearls {Clutched} Not Clutched

5.56/2.23 is designed to tumble
No it’s not. If you have a gun that keyholes it’s round your gun is fricked up. A tumbling round couldn’t hit shite with any accuracy past 25 yards.
The tumbling myth started during the early days of the M16. Tge barrel twist rates were 1:14. This did cause stabilization issues but was corrected with fast twist rates.

For specifically inflicting damage a hollow point would be the cartridge of choice.
But the fact is 99% of recreational shooters just shoot whatever without any intent either way based on bullet type.
All absolutely true - my comments are all directed at how the prosecutor can use the issue.
Personally - I carry hollow point for self-defense purposes = but I don't target practice with them.
The FMJs were in the gun because they are much cheaper.

It's strange to see the court TV anchors kind of on Kyle's side and talking about how retarded Binger is. I guess because race isn't involved here.

It's meant to tumble when it hits flesh. Which is probably what OP meant.

The prosecution is going to lose that jury getting all hung-up on full metal jackets and hollow points and what they do to deer. That was stupid if I was on the jury

Right - try buying anything other than FMJ over the last couple years.

I think the Prosecutor knows he's going to lose on the murder charges and is hammering the illegal possession of a firearm to get something
