Funny the media leaves out that this “excursion” has been done by many government officials dating back to the BO administration.

But no media outrage around those “excursions”

I imagine while he was there the military leaders offered the option and he took them up on it.

Left out of FBI’s news releases was an exclusive excursion that Patel took days later when he participated in what government officials described as a “VIP snorkel” around the USS Arizona in an outing coordinated by the military.

That's pretty fricking disrespectful in my eyes and Patel should have his arse kicked for doing it.

Surprised to upvote one of your posts.

If anyone has been to the Arizona Memorial, they can arrest that it is not some snorkeling destination. He didn't go snorkeling because it's frickin pretty. There is still oil seeping to the surface there. It's not some pretty corral reef or anything like that. It's deep, dark water. He will have done this to get a closer look at the gravesite of our service members. To pay respects. The entire experience of the Arizona Memorial tour is a very somber affair. Seeing the wreckage itself would be even more sobering. I can fully understand exactly why he did it.

Snorkeling around the USS Arizona seems pretty weird

I think two things are common: 1) leaving the crew of a sunken ship where they lie and 2) diving around shipwrecks. Thus, lots of divers swim around the entombed bodies of deceased crews. In this case it is shallow enough to snorkel.

It is part of the US Parks service and restricted. So Patel had "VIP" access to do so.

I just think this is another tempest in a teapot and AP News was all too happy to run this story.

Nothingburger, imo.

But I am admittedly ignorant about what excursions are considered “normal” on the tax payer’s dime.

The memorial is built directly over the arizona. There are boats constantly delivering people who came to pay respects. I would think it a little strange to see snorkelers there.

Pearl Harbor survivors of the Arizona are authorized to have their ashes placed aboard. I don't think there are any more still alive.

Sooo how many hours per day is sec def expected to be on the clock during a business trip.? If he took a tour of the Corregidor national park while on a trip to Manila would that be a problem. How about walking the War between the States national parks, Walking the European WW2 graveyards on his own time. Is the Libtard problem water is wet? I traveled the far side of the world for 20 years on business 6 days a week and on the 7th visited the local history.

The USS Arizona has been leaking oil since 1941. I highly doubt he went snorkeling in oil.
