Ironically, this will give him cover within the media. The campaign will argue it's proof his remarks were just worded poorly, and he wasn't trying to come off like he served in a combat zone.

To be fair, if you watch the video of the speech, he only says "tarmac at Bagram."
Not sure why the transcript says "tarmac at Bagram Air Base in Iraq."

Likely because that how he originally wrote it and an aide proofread it and caught the mistake. It was never taken out of the official transcript however.
