Carter / Reagan at 18 in Natch Parish. I voted for Carter bc of the family of farmers I lived with, knew nothing of politics. Found out RR was a fraternity brother and began paying attention in college. My vote in 84 was part of the landslide.

I paid attention somewhat for Clinton and Bush. I did not let it consume my life.
I got hooked when Trump started having a realistic chance of winning in 2016.
I made time for press conferences while he was/is President. I paid attention to Biden's term way more than Bush, but way less than Trump's.
I love when Trump interacts with the media. Its comedy and he enjoys pissing off people and making sound bites.

1956. I remember watching the Democratic Party convention on black and white television. They were renominating Adlai Stevenson for a second campaign for President and Estes Kefauver was eventually the VP candidate nominee. However, there was a brief hooplah moment where there was a push to get a fresh face on the ticket. He was an unknown freshman senator from Massachusetts and looked like he was 20 years old.

I was in kindergarten in '88... our mock election was based on chocolate glaze donuts vs sprinkle donuts, can't remember which candidate was which donut. After '88, 2008 was my first time getting interested in presidential politics.
You were lucky????. We didn’t get shite in Arkansas

I’m 44. My first time voting was Trump/Clinton. As sad as it is to say, I didn’t know the difference between left/right, blue/red, liberal/conservative, etc… prior to that. I’ve since voted in every local and national election from that point and follow politics closely.

That was MA Gov Michael Dukakis against Papa Bush in 1988. He looked like a little kid in the tankers helmet.
Agreed he did. Didn’t they put him on the front cover of Time or some sort of big national magazine at the time. If I remember correctly

Am 76. Memories go back to 1956, and “I like Ike” slogan. But first real election I was aware of was 1960 Nixon vs Kennedy. I was Nixon all the way and as an 11 year old, was pretty bummed by the Chicago steal the next morning. So by 1964, I was 15 and a rabid Goldwaterite. MAGA today!

I was a kid in 90s El Paso so I remember Bush beating Anne Richardson for governorship. I didn't really start until 1996 convention. I supported Dole (this was before I learned he co-created EBT) bc of the high debt...lmao.
Clinton had the luckiest administration in history and Bush pissed me off.

Two turds in a pod. Stevenson was supposedly an intellectual lightweight and Kefauver killed the comic book industry. This was when dem ticket had a northerner and a good ole boy.

I was always kind of a political junky, watched the debates and shite because my old man always had them on. Liked Reagan, etc.
But I was 15 the first time I volunteered on a campaign, when a neighbor/family friend ran for city council.
So I guess I'll say 15.

By the time I was in hs, I watched Peter Jennings almost nightly and the Sunday shows. I used to stay up late to watch politically incorrect, even saw the infamous 911 episode.

41. I’m a Rush baby so I was aware in 92 with Bush and Clinton but Bush/Gore was my first time to vote and paying real attention.
Bush was a sucky neocon but still better than Gore by a lot.

18 in 68'. I'm sure you were paying attention. You were prime age to go to Vietnam. Did you get drafted and if so, did you fight in Vietnam?
