Ketosis is scientific fact. You can test this yourself with a $5 keto litmus stick from Walgreens.

Ketogenic diets have shown promise in completely eliminating epilepsy after changing diet.

The fact ketosis modifies your body chemistry to burn stored fat instead of just the constant barrage of carbs you eat is proven fact.

The food pyramid is nothing but bad science and government propaganda. It is a proven hoax and health danger but somehow it's still there.

nitrates are quickly going the way of msg. You can't buy Oscar Meyer hot dogs with nutrates or nitrites anymore.

People laughed at my diet and said I could never be competitive in bike races or have the endurance to last on long events.

I kicked their asses and won money and did 100 mile ride in 3:51 (that's averaging over 25mph on a bike for nearly 4 hours).

All done while deep in ketosis.

I'm buying my bacon straight from the butcher. Avoiding the cheap store stuff. I stay strict enough with the rest of the diet that I don't worry too much about it. I love my bacon too much to ever give that up.

well everyone is different. you can slice the baby in multiple ways to get the same results, but it's about what system you will engage in voluntarily and over the long term. i love meat. i love carbs (esp sugar), too, but can cut it out easier than meat (plus processed sugars should be limited in any diet).

many years ago when i wanted to cut down sugars i did low fat too, which was a fail. i actually ended up getting carbs my body craved, but through alcohol and not food. that was the worst of both worlds

there are lots of other things that you need to regulate. hormones determine a lot of this stuff and you have to figure out what kind of diet will maximize your hormonal state, but it goes beyond just diet. cortisol (from stress) will frick your body up

I have a diet pretty close to this as well. There is definitely an adjustment period of a week or two at first, but after that it's pretty amazing

Same. My cholesterol had been getting high enough that my doc advised Lipitor. I decided to try shaking things up first, chiefly with LCHF, of the Keto variety.
Result: after 6 months, little consistent exercise, Keto - cholesterol dropped considerably.

Saying bye to sugar and fake processed garbage completely changes the way you feel after the adjustment period

Can't be overstated. And I'm not extreme or overly strict with it these days, just limit it 5 days out of the week, and still feel better.

Very little. The only issue I ever had was severe leg night cramps and I resolved that by adding coconut water to my after-workout recovery. It's all about potassium.

My average day :

Oatmeal- apple
Black bean and brown rice wrap, pico de gallo
Salad , avocado , orange , hummus
Snacks- almonds - carrots - sweet potato- yogurt-

I haven’t had meat in six months . Don’t miss it at all. If I do, if that day comes, I’ll go get a burger . Eating isn’t a competition, it’s fuel. And what made me feel healthy at 30 makes me feel like crap at 50. I’m adjusting the diet accordingly.

yeah i am going pretty hardcore until next weekend, when i'll be in NYC

then i hope to get back on it and do a similar split. like 1 "bad dessert" a week (some bag of candy or like cookies) and 3 bad meals a week. that's what i did in 2016 and it worked fine. i am hopefully going to exercise more this time

Some folks at my church put their preschooler on a keto diet after nothing else was working with his seizures. It's harder at that age because he basically has to eat sticks of butter to get what he needs, but he has gone from having multiple seizures a day to sometimes having mild seizures while sleeping after a little over a year on the diet. Doctors say they may eliminate his seizures completely if they are able to get him to stick with the diet for 2 years.

I know so many people with the same results. Crazy that more people haven't recognized the negative impact of sugar. You'd think this would wake a few people up that maybe if this helps resolve a major medical condition then maybe it helps in other ways (it does)

I just did Keto (LCHF) for a month. I did not like it. You cannot have fruit, bread or rice. You have to watch how many carbs you're eating.

Some people eat to live; I live to eat. I love a variety of foods and Keto was too limiting. I lost 7 lbs in a month but I was miserable.

I'm going back to Paleo...no processed foods. It's about eating food that are good for you and don't contain a lot of processed sugars.

Just curious, but if you were already on a Paleo diet, why did you feel the need to go full Keto? Don't traditional Paleo diets severely limit carbs anyway?

yeah i didn't get it either

very few people do keto diets and stay in actual ketosis for long periods of time. that's like the 1% of keto subscribers

never underestimate how much good you can do for your body by working out your quads which are the biggest muscle group in your body that you can get working FOR you.

also practice HIIT (high intensity interval training) which is a fancy term that means an occasional 1-minute all-out effort done a few times during a 20 or 30 minute workout.
